Diablo 4 Season 14 Guide: How to Hunt the Corrupted Reaper

You are going to need a lot of situational awareness to crack open the new lair boss waiting in Zarbinzet.

A towering Diablo IV demon boss with glowing blue wings and armor looms over a group of hooded cultists in a hellish landscape with floating rocks.

The Corrupted Reaper is your primary target for endgame farming in Season 14 of Diablo 4. She is hiding in the Hawezar region and sitting on a pile of 850 Item Power gear. If you walk into her arena completely blind, her traps will quickly send you back to the nearest spawn point. Before you waste an entire evening getting blasted by area explosions, I am going to show you how to unlock her lair, dodge her mechanics, and walk away with your loot.

How to Find the Corrupted Reaper

You cannot just stroll up to her front door on day one.

You have to clear a few specific hurdles first. The boss is locked behind the seasonal questline. You must finish the quests "Rising Tide, Setting Sun" and "The Looming Night." Since the former requires you to unlock Torment I difficulty, you will need to push your character into the endgame before this hunt even begins.

The Pandemonium Rift

Once your quests are done, head south to Zarbinzet in the Hawezar region. Look for the Pandemonium Rift. Inside, you will find a Summoning Altar. Activating the altar and starting the fight is completely free.

Getting your loot is a different story. When the Corrupted Reaper dies, she drops the Corrupted Reaper's Hoard Cache. Opening that chest requires a Superior Lair Key. You can farm these keys by clearing Nightmare Dungeons with the Rupture affix or by running Deathtoll Chambers. If you need a refresher on opening those chambers, I put together a Pandemonium Ruptures guide to get you moving in the right direction.

Defeating the Corrupted Reaper

This fight is all about positioning and recognizing her attack patterns before she floods the floor with traps.

She is extremely fast and relies heavily on area denial. If you stand still for more than a second, you will get cooked. Keeping track of her movements is mandatory if you want to survive.

Attack Pattern How to Survive
Teleport She squats and leaps to the center of the map, triggering a massive area explosion where she lands. Move out of the blast radius instantly.
Soul Shots If you wander too far away, she fires slow projectiles that debuff your movement speed. Stay close to avoid this entirely.
Soul Dash She darts in a straight line across the arena, triggering any Soul Traps she touches. Do not stand in her path.
Trap Rush She covers the ground in circular Soul Traps. Stepping on them slows you down and deals heavy damage over time.

Fight Strategy

Your best bet is to stay aggressively close. Hovering in melee range stops her from spamming those annoying Soul Shots. When you are close, you can constantly chip away at her barrier and chunk her health down.

The second you see her start darting around the arena, back off. Move in a serpentine pattern to dodge the lines of damage she leaves behind. Keep your eyes on the floor and avoid the Soul Traps at all costs. She loves to trigger them with her dash attacks, turning a small trap into a massive explosion.

Corrupted Reaper Loot Table

Surviving the traps actually pays out incredibly well.

Pop open that cache with your Superior Lair Key and you are guaranteed to receive Pandemonium Fragments. You also get a minimum of one piece of gear sitting at 850 Item Power. If you are pushing higher Torment difficulties, that same cache has a chance to drop Mythic Uniques. The harder the difficulty, the better your chances are of seeing something glow orange on the floor.
