Fortnite DC Hot Bat Summer Update: Batman Hits the Beach

Bruce Wayne is finally taking a beach vacation, and he's bringing the rest of Gotham with him.

Fortnite character skins featuring DC's Batman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy in summer swimwear.

Epic's rolling out the DC Hot Bat Summer event for Chapter 7 Season 3, and this one leaked out right before the studio clocked off for their own summer break, which made the wait to see it in action feel extra long. It's arriving as part of the v41.20 patch, and there's a genuinely solid pile of content in here for anyone who grew up reading Batman comics instead of just watching the movies.

When The Servers Go Live

Set an alarm if you want in the second this drops. The event officially kicks off July 16, 2026, at 7 AM ET.

Don't bother mashing the login button before that window opens. Epic pulls the servers down to push patches like this, with scheduled downtime kicking in around 4 AM ET. Every big chapter update goes the same way, you'll just get a wall of connection timeouts if you try jumping the gun. Wait for that 7 AM mark and let things settle.

The Gotham Beach Wardrobe

Crossovers live and die on execution, and this one's giving some genuinely fun spins on characters everyone already knows.

Item Category Included Additions
Character Skins Summer Batman, Summer Harley Quinn, Summer Poison Ivy, Summer Catwoman
New Sidekick Ace the Bat-Hound
New Vehicle Dune Buggy-inspired Batmobile

Poison Ivy and Catwoman getting the beach treatment is the fun part here. Harley Quinn in swimwear basically writes itself. But a dune buggy Batmobile is the detail I didn't know I wanted. Trading the armored tank aesthetic for something built to kick up sand is a genuinely funny left turn for a vehicle that's usually all business.

New Gameplay Mechanics And Quests

Cosmetics are the hook, sure, but what actually keeps you dropping in is whether there's new stuff to chase.

The Batman Sprite

Epic's tossing the Batman Sprite into the loot pool, and it's following the same Special variant track other Sprites use. You'll be hunting down Holofoil, Gold, Gummy, and Galaxy versions of it scattered around the map.

Nobody's confirmed the exact abilities yet. Given the Grim Reaper Sprite leans hard into tracking and awareness, it wouldn't be a shock if the Batman Sprite followed suit, whether that means faster map traversal or some kind of early warning when someone's creeping up on you. Either way it's worth chasing down once you know what it actually does.

Free Loot And Event Quests

The Hot Bat Summer event ships with a fresh set of quests built to fuel your Chapter 7 Season 3 Battle Pass grind. Knock these out and you're looking at a solid chunk of XP, plus a shot at some free cosmetic rewards along the way.

There's a real chance you can walk away with a completely free skin just from grinding the event quests out. If you've got the time to put in, this is exactly the kind of event where your locker grows without your wallet taking a hit.
