Fortnite DC Hot Bat Summer Update: Batman Hits the Beach
Bruce Wayne is finally taking a beach vacation, and he's bringing the rest of Gotham with him.
Epic Games is officially rolling out the DC Hot Bat Summer event for Chapter 7 Season 3. This massive update leaked right before the studio took their summer break, and I've been waiting to see how it actually plays out. The servers are currently gearing up for the v41.20 patch, and it packs a serious amount of content for comic fans.
When the Servers Go Live
If you're planning to jump in immediately, you'll need to set an alarm. The DC Hot Bat Summer event officially kicks off on July 16, 2026, at 7 AM ET.
Before you start mashing the login button, remember that Epic takes the servers offline to apply these massive patches. Scheduled downtime begins around 4 AM ET. From my experience with previous chapter updates, you'll just end up staring at connection timeouts if you try logging in early. Wait until that 7 AM mark when the servers fully stabilize.
The Gotham Beach Wardrobe
I appreciate a good crossover, and Epic's delivering some highly unique takes on these classic characters. We get four new summer variants for characters already in the library.
New Gameplay Mechanics and Quests
Cosmetics are great, but the actual gameplay changes are what keep me dropping onto the island.
The Batman Sprite
Epic's introducing the Batman Sprite to the loot pool. It follows the traditional Special variant track. You'll be able to hunt down Holofoil, Gold, Gummy, and Galaxy versions of it across the map.
The exact abilities are still under wraps. Since the Grim Reaper Sprite focuses heavily on tracking and awareness, I expect the Batman Sprite to function similarly. It'll likely help you traverse the map faster or give you a tactical edge by detecting nearby enemies before they get the drop on you.
Free Loot and Event Quests
The Hot Bat Summer event brings a fresh batch of quests to help you grind out your Chapter 7 Season 3 Battle Pass. Completing these challenges nets you a massive chunk of XP and potentially some free cosmetic rewards.
There's even a strong chance you might earn a completely free skin just by grinding out the event quests. If you're willing to put in the time and effort, this is a fantastic opportunity to expand your locker without touching your wallet. If you're already in the mood to score free cosmetics, you should probably check out my guide on grabbing the Warframe Excalibur skin before it leaves the store.
