Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 Guide: Tracking Down the Ghost Sprite

Vanishing completely from sight right in the middle of a chaotic gunfight gives you a massive advantage when resetting a bad situation.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 completely rewrote the meta with its new companion systems. I've spent a lot of time testing out these different buffs, but the Ghost Sprite easily stands out as a personal favorite. It looks great and offers a serious tactical advantage when things get messy. Before you wander aimlessly around the island hoping to trip over one, you need to understand the exact spawn rules.

Where to Find the Ghost Sprite

Securing this specific companion means dealing with standard random number generation.

The Ghost Sprite drops as an Epic rarity item, so you won't find it sitting in basic floor loot piles. You can pull it from standard chests, rare chests, fishing spots, and specialized Sprite Chests scattered across the map. Before you waste hours mindlessly opening containers during the day, wait for the sun to drop. Your odds of actually pulling a Ghost Sprite jump significantly during in-game nighttime.

Once you get your hands on one, your immediate priority is keeping it safe. You need to extract the unit to add it to your permanent collection. This lets you summon it in future matches if you happen to catch a stray bullet and get sent back to the lobby. To pull this off, sprint to a designated extraction site or drop a Portable Extractor right where you stand. Safely extracting this companion also unlocks a unique style for The Guardian skin in the Runners Battle Pass.

How the Invisibility Cloak Works

The main reason you want this companion is the immediate utility it provides during a messy firefight.

The second you trigger a reload animation, the Ghost Sprite activates a temporary invisibility cloak. This brief window is perfect for breaking an enemy's line of sight or safely pushing up to high ground without taking heavy fire. The duration of this stealth cloak scales directly with your companion's current level. Upgrading this unit to Level 5 gives you five full seconds of complete invisibility, which is more than enough time to completely reposition.

Ghost Sprite Level Invisibility Cloak Duration
Level 1 3.0 Seconds
Level 2 3.5 Seconds
Level 3 4.0 Seconds
Level 4 4.5 Seconds
Level 5 5.0 Seconds

Ghost Sprite Rarity Variants

Tracking down the base version is only the start of your seasonal grind.

Epic Games included several Special variants that stack passive bonuses right on top of the default reload cloak. I highly suggest hunting down the Galaxy variant if you constantly burn through your ammo reserves. You can currently find four distinct versions on the island, with a fifth scheduled to drop on July 9, 2026. Here are the specific perks tied to each tier.

Variant Tier Active Perks and Buffs
Base Ghost Sprite Grants a standard invisibility cloak upon reloading your weapon.
Gold Ghost Sprite Includes the base reload cloak plus a 3x experience bonus for all eliminations.
Gummy Ghost Sprite Includes the base reload cloak plus a 20% increase to Sprite Dust gains upon successful extraction.
Galaxy Ghost Sprite Includes the base reload cloak plus a 30% increase to all ammunition gathered while looting.
Holofoil Ghost Sprite Upcoming variant releasing on July 9, 2026.
