Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Is Becoming a Real Restaurant in 2027
American Dream Mall and Scott Cawthon's ScottGames just confirmed a permanent, real-life Freddy Fazbear's Pizza is opening in New Jersey in 2027, and this time it's not a seasonal haunted house.
Five Nights at Freddy's turned twelve this week, and the anniversary gift is an actual building. American Dream, the entertainment complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, confirmed on August 8 that it's building the first permanent Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, developed directly with ScottGames. The reveal started as a cryptic teaser, a grainy photo of a half-pepperoni, half-cheese pizza sitting on a confetti-covered table, before both accounts followed up with the real announcement.
What's Actually Confirmed
Visitors will be able to eat at the restaurant, play arcade games, watch animatronic stage shows from Freddy and the Fazbear Band, visit Foxy's Pirate Cove, and go behind a curtain for what American Dream is calling an immersive multiplayer survival-horror experience. Creative lead Atreyu Alcantar put it plainly: "We're not building a set that looks like Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, we're building Freddy Fazbear's Pizza." No opening date, ticket prices, or size have been announced yet, just a registration page for updates.
This Isn't the First Fazbear's, Just the First Permanent One
FNAF has technically had a physical presence before this. Fright Dome at Circus Circus Las Vegas ran a walkthrough back in 2016, the same year Sally Corporation showed off a prototype dark ride at IAAPA that never got built. Universal put Freddy-themed mazes into Halloween Horror Nights in both 2024 and 2025. All of those were seasonal. What American Dream is describing is meant to stay open.
Why It Took This Long
Cawthon's actual public reasoning for never licensing a restaurant before was fairly mundane, he's said he just doesn't have much personal interest in running one. The idea that he was worried about someone reenacting anything from the games is mostly fans filling in the gap themselves, and I get the appeal of that theory, it's a better story than the real one. The real one is just that it took this long to find a partner with the resources to actually pull it off.
The Setting Is the Best Part
American Dream is the second largest indoor mall in the country, already home to Nickelodeon Universe, a DreamWorks water park, an indoor ski slope, a LEGOLAND Discovery Center, and a SEA LIFE aquarium. A restaurant built around animatronics that are canonically stuffed with the remains of dead children is about to sit right in the middle of all that extremely licensed, extremely safe family programming. That contrast is probably most of the appeal.
