High on Life 2 Secret Endings Guide: How to Ruin Everything

Being a legendary intergalactic bounty hunter means you occasionally have to make tough choices, like putting a bullet in your own sibling just to see the credits roll faster.

Squanch Games is back with more absurdist nonsense. Naturally, they hid a few alternate conclusions for players who refuse to follow basic instructions. High on Life 2 has a standard narrative where you save humanity from becoming space drugs again. Where is the fun in that? If you are tired of listening to talking guns and just want to get this over with, you can trigger a definitive ending within the first hour of playtime.

I sifted through the branching paths so you do not have to guess. Here is exactly what you need to do to unlock the secret endings, grab the hidden achievements, and see every weird joke the developers crammed into the finale.

The Secret Good Ending

This is by far the funniest and most abrupt way to finish the game, and it rewards you with the ironically named Good Ending achievement.

Early in the campaign, you will get the objective to track down your sister. Lizzie is now running a rebel group and has a massive bounty on her head. You eventually track her to the zoo area. Look for the Aviary building, which is currently on fire and conveniently located next to a father and son having a chat. You need to scale the nearby cliffs and use Gus and his Disc Shot ability to create a platform to get inside.

Once you drop into the middle of the Aviary, Lizzie gets ambushed by a squad of rival bounty hunters. Because you are a living legend, they actually back off and wait for you to execute her yourself. The game tells you to kill the bounty hunters. Ignore the objective. Just aim at Lizzie and pull the trigger.

You only get one shot at this. If you miss or try to shoot her again, your guns will stop you. The screen cuts to black, a short credit sequence rolls, and you are treated to a slideshow of photos from Lizzie's funeral. You just beat the game in record time.

The Standard Bad Ending

If you actually care about the human race and want to play the full video game you paid for, you have to ignore your intrusive thoughts.

Instead of murdering your sister in the Aviary, you shoot the rival bounty hunters. This triggers a boss fight and earns you the Break the Bounty Code achievement. From there, you just play the rest of the campaign normally. Your ultimate goal is to stop Nipulon from turning humanity back into a galactic cattle farm. You ruin his plans, save the day, and get what the game considers the "Bad" ending simply because you did exactly what you were supposed to do.

The Post-Credits Sequel Bait

Assuming you took the normal route and saved the universe, you are not quite done yet. You have to endure the credits.

If you sit through the entire scroll without skipping, you get dropped into a secret playable epilogue. You get to walk around and interact with everyone as they shower you with praise for killing Nipulon. Once you finish talking to the NPCs, your Suit OS chimes in to completely shatter the fourth wall. It begs you to support the developers so they can make a third game and throws in a tired joke about Half-Life 3. This little interactive sequence unlocks the Sequel Bait achievement.
