High on Life 2 Weapons Guide: All Guns, Perks, and Upgrades

Listening to a piece of alien hardware scream at you while you shoot things is a bizarre experience, but it gets the job done.

First-person perspective of a purple-mohawked alien holding a weapon, confronting a muscular enemy with a shield and a massive spiked wrecking ball on a chain, all drenched in neon pink and blue lighting.

Squanch Games brought back the talking arsenal for High on Life 2, and yes, they are just as irritating and violently deranged as you remember. You are once again tasked with saving the galaxy using a collection of sentient firearms that simply refuse to shut up. Beneath the relentless barrage of crude jokes, however, these guns actually pack some incredibly unique mechanics. I have spent way too many hours figuring out which of these loudmouths deserves a permanent spot in my loadout.

Whether you are melting bosses or trying to solve environmental puzzles, you need to know exactly how to optimize your gear.

The Full Arsenal and Trickshots

Every weapon in this game comes with a standard firing mode and a special "Trickshot" tied to the Q key. These alt-fires are not just for dealing extra damage; you will absolutely need them to traverse the map and exploit enemy weaknesses. Here is exactly what you are working with.

WEAPONS & TRICKSHOTS

Every gun you can acquire and the special ability attached to it.

Weapon Name Combat Profile & Q Ability
Bowie A slow-firing bow that hits like a truck, assuming you can actually aim the clunky thing. Trickshot (Soul Hole): Rips a hole in space and time. You look through it to see hidden black-and-white objects or use it as a safe window to shoot enemies.
Gus Your standard close-range shotgun. An absolute monster up close, but totally worthless at a distance. Trickshot (Disc Launcher): Fires a giant lava disc that melts faces. You can also shoot it into specific walls to create platforming ledges.
Sweezy A high-fire-rate SMG with a charged single shot on the right click. Trickshot (Time Bubble): Launches a massive sphere that slows down anything caught inside it. Perfect for crowd control.
Sheath A mid-range burst assault rifle you pry from a dead assassin. Trickshot (Spike): Shoots an electric pole. Fries groups of enemies, acts as a makeshift zipline, and solves electrical circuit puzzles.
Creature Literally launches screaming alien babies that run around and attack your targets. Trickshot (Hypno Baby): Fires a mutant infant that temporarily mind-controls an enemy to fight for you.
Travis & Jan Dual-wielded energy pistols. Hard to aim, but the damage output is stupidly high. Trickshot (Slime Drive & Glob Shot): Jan shoots explosive slime, while Travis fires a glob that levitates platforms to help you clear obstacles.

Upgrading Your Gear

You are going to collect a massive pile of Pesos while murdering your way through the galaxy. Most of your cash should go straight to Jorb's shop located in your Quarters. A few select upgrades are also hidden behind environmental challenges in places like Circuit Arcadia. Stop hoarding your money and buy these enhancements.

WEAPON UPGRADES

Every enhancement available for your guns and how much they cost.

Gun & Upgrade Name Cost & Effect
Travis & Jan: Agony Dial 1,000 Pesos. Unlocks a filthy headshot multiplier for the twin pistols.

What You Should Buy First

You will not be able to afford everything immediately, so if you want to make your life significantly easier, prioritize your spending.

Travis and Jan are arguably the best weapons in the game once you get used to their wonky aiming mechanic. Buy the Pouch Rounds and Agony Dial for them as soon as humanly possible to maximize your overall DPS. After that, grab Gus's Slug Chunker and Cartridge Canal. Gus is highly situational, but when you are trapped in a small arena with an aggressive boss like Tiffany, that shotgun is your absolute best friend.

Finally, pick up the Bone Lock for Bowie if you trust your own precision. A massive headshot multiplier makes picking off stragglers incredibly satisfying. Find what fits your playstyle, upgrade it to the maximum level, and try not to let the guns annoy you to death.
