Marvel Rivals: Avengers Age of Ultron PvE Guide

Ultron's climbing back out of the wreckage for a second round, and this time Marvel Rivals hands you seven completely rebuilt Avengers to throw at him.

What you're actually signing up for

This is the second big PvE stretch in the Path to Doomsday event, following on from Blood Hunt, and it drops you into a fight against Ultron's Sentry army with seven Avengers who've had their entire kits rebuilt just for this mode. You've got until August 27, 2026 at 9 AM UTC to work through it, which comes out to a bit under four weeks from where things stand now. NetEase pushed the deadline back on Blood Hunt after enough feedback rolled in, so there's a chance the same happens here, but I wouldn't plan around it. Treat the date on the calendar as the real one.

How it stacks up against Blood Hunt

Blood Hunt leaned into deeper character build systems across its run, while this one keeps things tighter around a single boss and a straightforward wave structure. The shorter loop works in your favor if you're trying to knock out every hero-specific Hard clear without setting aside a long stretch of your evening for it.

I like that the lighter structure means less pressure to commit a whole session just to make progress. You can run one difficulty pass, grab whatever reward you're chasing that day, and log off without feeling like you left something half-finished.

Picking a difficulty and getting into a run

Getting in is simple enough. Open the Playlist button from the home screen, head into the Rivalry tab, and you'll find Path to Doomsday: Avengers Age of Ultron sitting right next to Blood Hunt. From there you pick a difficulty and queue up.

Hard mode stays locked until you've cleared a full run on Common, so there's no skipping ahead even if you're feeling confident. That first Common clear also hands you 200 Units and a Gallery Card, so there's no reason to rush past it chasing a shortcut that doesn't exist.

Seven heroes, seven rebuilt kits

All seven kits here are custom-built for this mode, so even a hero you've mastered in ranked is going to feel different the moment you load in. None of the reworked abilities carry over to competitive or quick play, so there's nothing here that'll mess with your normal loadouts.

Every hero also carries a rechargeable Health Pack on X for topping up mid-fight, so keep that in mind no matter who you end up picking most often for this event.

Captain America

Cap leans hard into crowd control, using the shield to knock enemies around before they can regroup.

  • Super-Soldier Slam (Left Click): Slams the shield into the ground, launching enemies into the air.

  • Living Legend (Right Click): Deflects incoming projectiles with the shield.

  • Vibranium Energy Saw (E): Throws the shield to knock enemies down.

  • Liberty Rush (F): Rushes toward enemies with the shield raised.

  • Freedom Charge (Q, Ultimate): Grants continuous bonus health and movement speed, sharing both buffs with nearby allies.

Black Widow

She splits her time between a rifle and a melee baton, then drops into a dedicated sniper stance for her ultimate.

  • Red Room Rifle / Widow's Bite Baton (Left Click): Swaps between rifle fire and melee strikes with the baton.

  • Electro-Plasma Blast (Right Click): Fires a round that slows enemies on hit.

  • Edge Dancer (E): A spin kick that launches enemies into the air.

  • Widow's Bite Slam (F): Leaps and slams into the ground.

  • Assassin's Focus (Q, Ultimate): Switches into a sniper stance with piercing shots that deal heavy damage.

Thor

Thor's whole kit is built around charging Mjolnir up and cashing it in for one big hit.

  • Mjolnir Bash (Left Click): Strikes enemies directly with the hammer.

  • Hammer Throw (Right Click): Hurls Mjolnir at a target, and it returns automatically.

  • Storm Surge (Shift): Spins Mjolnir to build a charge, then dashes forward to knock enemies back.

  • Lightning Realm (E): Summons a lightning realm that restores Thorforce.

  • Awakening Rune (F): Enters an awakened state, unleashing Mjolnir Bash at full Thorforce power.

  • God of Thunder (Q, Ultimate): Flies up, charges the hammer, then slams it into the ground.

Iron Man

Iron Man stays mobile and leans on sustained damage rather than one flashy cooldown.

  • Repulsor Blast (Left Click): Fires the Nano Pulse Cannons.

  • Unibeam (Right Click): Unleashes a beam from the Arc Reactor.

  • Hyper Velocity (Shift): Flies forward quickly.

  • Armor Overdrive (E): Boosts damage output for an extended stretch.

  • Micro Missile Barrage (F): Launches a sustained missile bombardment.

  • Invincible Pulse Cannon (Q, Ultimate): Fires a devastating pulse cannon at a single target.

Iron Man fires a powerful Unibeam energy blast at an enemy in a futuristic cityscape during a Marvel Rivals gameplay match.

Hulk

Hulk skips the fancy footwork and just gets bigger. I love how uncomplicated his kit is, four buttons and a very bad day for everyone else.

  • Heavy Blow (Left Click): Punches enemies directly.

  • Gamma Burst (Right Click): Sends out bursts of gamma energy at enemies.

  • Radioactive Lockdown (E): Immobilizes enemies using gamma energy.

  • Hulk Smash (Q, Ultimate): Transforms into a monstrous version of Hulk that clears out everything nearby.

Hawkeye

Hawkeye keeps the bow for most of his kit but swaps in a katana for melee, and his ultimate is built around exposing decoys. I've already decided he's getting my first Hard clear, mostly for an excuse to carry a katana into a superhero shooter.

  • Piercing Arrow (Left Click): Fires standard arrows.

  • Blast Arrow (Right Click): Fires three explosive arrows at once.

  • Crescent Slash (Shift): A katana slash that sends enemies airborne.

  • Hypersonic Arrow (E): Fires an arrow that damages and slows the target.

  • Hunter's Sight (Q, Ultimate): Reveals enemy Afterimages, and hitting them deals damage to the actual enemy.

Scarlet Witch

She's the closest thing here to a pure magic caster, draining life force on her basic attack and wiping enemies out with her ultimate.

  • Chaos Control (Left Click): Drains an enemy's life force with chaos magic.

  • Chthonian Burst / Mythic Burst (Right Click): Fires a Chthonian Burst, upgradeable into the stronger Mythic Burst.

  • Dark Seal (E): Creates a force field that stuns enemies.

  • Mystic Projection (Shift): Enters a phased flying state.

  • Reality Erasure (Q, Ultimate): Charges chaos magic, then releases it to wipe out enemies.

If you're not sure who to grab first, it doesn't matter much for that opening Common clear since every kit comes with the same self-heal and a full set of PvE-specific tools. Save the decision paralysis for when you're chasing individual hero titles later on.

Two trips through Ultron, and everything in between

The run itself is a wave-based gauntlet against Ultron's forces, and unlike Blood Hunt, there's only a single boss in the whole thing. That said, you're fighting him twice, once partway through and again in the finale, so pacing yourself matters more than it sounds like at first.

Along the way you'll run into Sentry Bots, Flying Sentry Drones, Elite Sentries, and Laser Sentries. Elite Sentries hit noticeably harder than the standard bots, so it's worth clearing them out before they start piling up. Laser Sentries are the ones I actually pay attention to. They punish anyone who stands still, so a bit of movement goes a long way against them.

The second Ultron fight is harder than the first, and the game basically tells you that up front. Save your ultimate ability for the finale if you can manage it. Burning it early in the first fight makes round two rougher than it needs to be.

Everything you can actually earn

The full rewards list breaks down like this:

  • Clear Common for the first time: 200 Units and an Avengers: Age of Ultron Gallery Card

  • Clear Hard for the first time: the Ultron "Avengers: Age of Ultron" Costume and the Path to Peace MVP

  • Defeat 3,000 enemies total: Avengers: Age of Ultron Spray

  • Clear 10 waves: Breaking the Strings Emote

  • Purchase 15 upgrades: Avengers: Age of Ultron Nameplate

  • Clear Hard as Thor: Spark of Life Title

  • Clear Hard as Hulk: Steel Smasher Title

  • Clear Hard as Captain America: Proof of Humanity Title

  • Clear Hard as Hawkeye: Unerring Aim Title

  • Clear Hard as Black Widow: Lethal Shadow Title

  • Clear Hard as Iron Man: Unmaker of Ultron Title

  • Clear Hard as Scarlet Witch: Core Crusher Title

The titles take real effort since each one needs its own full Hard run with that specific hero, so I'd rotate through the roster instead of grinding out one favorite if you're chasing all seven.

The 3,000 enemy defeat count isn't something you need to hit in one sitting either. It adds up across every run you play, so you'll probably clear it just by playing normally instead of grinding for it on purpose.

Either way, that Ultron costume is waiting behind just one Hard clear, so even a single run through is worth it before the mode wraps up.
