Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Character Roster Breakdown
Arc System Works is injecting pure anime adrenaline into a 4v4 tag-team setup, and you have exactly 20 Marvel heavyweights to choose from on day one.
When I first saw the lineup for this brawler, I knew a lot of you would be looking for the exact team combinations you can pull off. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls groups its roster into specific factions that pull straight from comic book history. Before you lock in your main and start grinding the lab, you need to know exactly who brings what to the arena.
The Fighting Avengers
Earth's mightiest heroes are stepping up. You have a solid mix of versatile kits and pure damage in this squad.
Captain America
Steve Rogers is your all-rounder. You get ranged shield throws, anti-air tools, and a brutal gap-closing lunge. If you want to trap an opponent, utilize his Ricochet Valley technique to bounce the shield off surfaces and keep the pressure on.
Iron Man
Tony Stark gets a slick Gundam style redesign here. You will dominate the mid-range with his versatile projectiles and massive aerial mobility. You can zone enemies out from above or rush in close if you prefer throwing hands.
Hulk
Bruce Banner hits like a freight train with terrifying attack range, but don't expect to be doing much maneuvering in the air. Charge up his Gamma Icon, trigger Gamma Rage, and absolutely flatten whoever is stuck in your path.
Black Panther
T'Challa sits this one out. Shuri takes the suit, relying on high agility, long-range spear strikes, and projectiles. Keep hitting to fill your Bast's Blessing gauge, then pop it to go entirely offensive and overwhelm your enemy.
The Amazing Guardians
Your web-slingers and cosmic misfits. If you want a team that thrives on speed and disruption, start here.
Spider-Man
Pure speed and mobility. You will be relying heavily on your webs to close the distance for a quick combo or to swing away to safety when things get too heated.
Peni Parker
Piloting the SP//dr mech suit, Peni brings a gadget launcher to the fight. You can summon an array of drones tailored to different situations to completely outsmart whoever is trying to lock you down.
Star-Lord
Peter Quill plays as a highly versatile gunslinger. You can alternate the properties of his Element Blast while using his rocket boots to fly in for a surprise attack or completely disengage from a bad matchup.
Ms. Marvel
Kamala Khan thrives at long range. You can stretch her limbs with Elasti-Grab to close the gap instantly, follow it up with a Rubber Bind grab, and finish the sequence with a devastating overhead Karate Chop.
Unbreakable X-Men
Mutants bringing severe technical mastery to the battlefield. Be prepared to spend some time practicing these combos.
Wolverine
Logan is your dedicated close-combat aggressor. Once you trigger his Berserker Rage, he unleashes an unstoppable flurry of adamantium claw strikes that will send anyone straight back to the lobby.
Storm
Ororo Munroe requires strict execution. As a highly technical character, you have complete control over the weather. Bombard your enemies with lightning projectiles and heavy gusts of wind to dictate the pacing of the entire match.
Magik
Armed with her Soulsword, Magik dominates up close. The real trick is mastering Limbo magic. You can place Dark Portals across the stage to teleport yourself or aggressively redirect stray projectiles back at the sender.
Danger
Another highly technical fighter. You have to learn how to perfectly chain her Calibrate ability with her other skills to deal massive damage at any range. If you lack strategy, you will get punished fast.
Knights of Doom
The heavy-hitting villains you love to hate. This faction is built for absolute area denial and overwhelming force.
Doctor Doom
Victor Von Doom excels at mid-to-long range combat. You get oppressive projectiles, a specialized shield that completely nullifies incoming fire, and teleportation tricks to keep your opponent completely guessing.
Magneto
The master of magnetism turns the arena into a weapon. His standard projectiles create debris on the ground. You then use his magnetic force to gather that debris and massively amplify your next string of attacks.
Green Goblin
Norman Osborn spends most of his time airborne on his glider. You have to actively manage his glider gauge while terrorizing the ground below with a barrage of Pumpkin Bombs and Razor Bats.
Carnage
The ultimate symbiote threat. Carnage uses his shapeshifting body to infect opponents. You can form a razor-sharp Parasite Fang to brutally piece right through defensive blocks.
Samurai Outriders
A chaotic mix of anti-heroes and literal gods. Pick these characters if you prefer taking massive risks for massive rewards.
Ghost Rider
Johnny Blaze leads this crew. You fight from a distance using his fiery chain while building up the Vengeance Gauge. Your damage output scales up as the meter fills, but be warned: once the gauge maxes out, you become completely vulnerable. Play aggressive, but don't get greedy.
Blade
The Daywalker wields his Muramasa sword, glaives, and twin machine guns. If you want a ferociously aggressive playstyle that never lets up on the pressure, this is your pick.
Loki
The God of Mischief brings magic and ice projectiles. Your main strategy is utilizing his illusions to bait and trick your opponent, turning the match into pure chaos.
Deadpool
Wade Wilson does what he wants. Armed with swords, guns, and grenades, he is built for reckless aggression. Thanks to his healing factor, you rarely have to stress over taking a few hits while aggressively pushing for a knockout.
Platform Availability
If you are looking to jump in, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is dropping on PC. For the console crowd, it remains a PlayStation 5 exclusive at launch, meaning Xbox owners are entirely out of luck right now. I hope to see more fan-favorites added to the roster down the line, but this starting 20 gives you plenty of mechanics to master on day one.
