Palworld 1.0 Launch Guide: Release Times and Patch Prep

Two years of massive updates and a highly publicized legal dispute with Nintendo finally culminate in the 1.0 release.

Palworld's had a genuinely wild ride since crashing onto the scene in January 2024. It instantly shattered concurrent user records on Steam overnight, turning a quirky survival game into a global obsession. Then came the two year legal marathon with Nintendo. Through every headline and controversy, developer Pocketpair kept their heads down and kept pushing out updates, while also drawing a hard line against using AI generated content. Now, the 1.0 release is locked in for Friday, July 10, 2026. The legal dust seems to be settling with what looks like a minor payout, and Pocketpair is closing the early access chapter for good.

When Does Palworld 1.0 Actually Launch

Because Pocketpair operates out of Japan, the official July 10 release date is tied to Japan Standard Time. That means if you're in North America, you'll actually get your hands on the update a day early on Thursday, July 9.

Pocketpair keeps their exact launch buttons a secret until the very last minute. Looking back at how they handled major updates over the past two years gives a clear picture though. They love a 9 AM JST rollout. I've put together an estimated timeline based on their historical track record so you can plan your download accordingly.

Region Estimated Time
Japan (JST) July 10, 9:00 AM
US East (ET) July 9, 8:00 PM
US West (PT) July 9, 5:00 PM
UK (BST) July 10, 1:00 AM
Central Europe (CEST) July 10, 2:00 AM

What Is Changing In The Update

Pocketpair confirmed the patch notes for 1.0 span a ridiculous 27 pages. They're holding the granular details close to their chest for now, but that sheer volume guarantees total system overhauls, massive additions, and serious balancing tweaks.

Alongside the digital update, this week also marks the physical launch of the official Palworld trading card game. It's a huge week for the franchise on all fronts.

Do You Need To Start A Fresh Save

Your current worlds and your meticulously bred Pals are entirely safe. The 1.0 update doesn't force a server or local wipe. However, Pocketpair explicitly recommends starting completely fresh to actually feel the weight of the new content.

If you load up your max level character and stare at your existing mega base, you'll miss the subtle progression changes and new early game hooks. I strongly suggest starting over. It's the only way to genuinely experience the definitive version of what Pocketpair spent two years building.

Before you load up the new patch, back up your existing save files. Even though there's no planned wipe, pushing a 27 page patch into an existing world can occasionally cause weird file corruptions. Protect your progress first.

Your Pre Launch Checklist

If you stubbornly refuse to start a fresh save, or if you just want to tie up loose ends before making a new world, you have a few chores to knock out.

Clean Out Your Palbox

Go into your Global Palbox and start deleting the junk. A cluttered box is a nightmare to navigate when a massive update drops. The favorite lock mechanic usually trips you up here, so double check that you actually unlock the fodder you want to trash.

Clear Your Boss Log

If you have an active raid target like Bellanoir lingering on your to do list, get it done right now. The same goes for optional late game targets you might have ignored. Finding the Destroyed Mineshaft in Mount Obsidian to take down Alpha Astegon is worth the effort before the new patch potentially changes spawn behaviors or combat scaling. Wrap up your unfinished business so you can jump into 1.0 without looking back.
