Palworld 1.0 World Tree Guide: Bypassing the Barrier and Farming Paloxite

Reaching the massive tree looming over the map isn't a casual sightseeing trip, it acts as the absolute peak of endgame progression.

If you spent your early access days wondering when you'd finally get to explore that massive tree on the horizon, the 1.0 update finally opens the gates. You can't just hop on a flying mount and glide over there. The developers placed a hard progression lock on the entire region, and even after you manage to step foot on the new landmass, the environment actively fights your attempts to gather resources. Before you waste your time running up to ore nodes only to watch them vanish into thin air, you need to understand the new mechanical rules governing this zone. I mapped out exactly how to breach the magical barrier and automate your endgame material farming.

How to Breach the World Tree Barrier

You have to put in a massive amount of work before the game even lets you start the entry quest. You must defeat every single Tower Boss across Palpagos, Feybreak, and Sunreach.

If you're still getting flattened by the newer encounters, take a look at my Palworld sunreach feybreak tower guide to get your combat strategy sorted out first. Once your boss checklist is completely cleared, a new prerequisite quest triggers. This quest forces you to hunt down and capture a Panthalus. With that specific creature secured, you can finally interact with the Altar blocking the World Tree region. From there, you need to use a Whalaska to physically cross the barrier and make landfall.

Surviving the New Biomes and the Tower Boss

The World Tree isn't just a single forest area. It hosts multiple distinct biomes, including a lethal radiation zone. If you wander into the irradiated sectors without a Gas Mask helmet equipped, your health bar will melt away in seconds.

While exploring, keep an eye out for Teafant Springs scattered around the landscape. Interacting with these statues instantly restores your health and your active Pal's health, making them crucial checkpoints during long exploration runs.

You'll eventually spot a massive tower sitting in the western corner of the map. This structure houses Zenara and Astralym, the absolute hardest encounter in the game right now. They sit at a terrifying Level 80. Just a quick heads up to save your spheres: Astralym is completely unobtainable. It exists solely as a boss-exclusive entity, so don't bother trying to capture it.

The Disappearing Resource Problem

The most frustrating part of reaching this new zone is trying to harvest the local flora. When you walk up to a Mythical Wood tree or a Paloxite ore node, it literally vanishes before you can swing your pickaxe.

To stop this from happening, you need World Tree Holy Water. You have to drink a vial of this water and apply it to your active Pal to temporarily lock the resources in the physical realm. Once the water is applied, you can hack away normally. I highly recommend equipping the Plasma Multicutter (unlocked back at Level 54) to shred through these nodes as fast as possible before your water buff runs out.

The Passive Skill Workaround

If you don't want to constantly chug holy water just to hit a rock, you need to rely on genetics. Capturing Pals or hatching eggs found within the World Tree region gives you a chance to roll specific regional passives. If your active Pal possesses the World Tree Seedbed, Hermit Sage, Twin-Edged Holy Blade, Dimensional Leap, or God of Destruction passive skill, you completely bypass the vanishing mechanic. Having one of these traits lets you approach and harvest resources without ever needing to use a vial of water, saving your stash for actual crafting recipes.

Automating Your Endgame Materials

You need a constant flow of Paloxite and Mythical Wood to build the highest tier of technology. I broke down exactly what these new resources do and the most efficient ways to stock your chests.

Exclusive Material Primary Use & Best Farming Method
World Tree Holy Water Purifies local resources so they don't vanish. The easiest way to grab a quick batch is by interacting with Teafant Springs, which grants 10 vials per statue.
Paloxite Crystallized energy used for level 70+ armor and weapons. You can manually farm nodes, but running Pal Expeditions yields a massive passive income.
Mythical Wood Required for high-tier base structures. Best farmed manually with the Plasma Multicutter while protected by Holy Water or a specific Pal passive.
Radiant Gems Used to Awaken your existing Pals to unlock their hidden potential. Found randomly by defeating local enemies or passively through Pal Expeditions.
Ancient Relics The absolute best resource in the zone. Feed these into an Ancient Relic Recycler at your base to automatically generate Holy Water, Paloxite, and Radiant Gems.

Maximizing the Ancient Relic Recycler

Before you spend hours manually chopping down trees, you should focus entirely on securing Ancient Relics. These drop randomly from enemies in the zone, but your primary source will be Pal Expeditions (which you unlock by finally taking down Zenara and Astralym).

Once you have a stack of Ancient Relics, dump them directly into the Ancient Relic Recycler facility back at your main base. The recycler breaks them down and spits out a steady supply of every single World Tree material you actually need. It completely automates your late-game economy, letting you skip the manual gathering grind entirely so you can focus on building the absurdly powerful weapons waiting for you at the level 80 cap.
