Vampire Crawlers Relics Guide: Where to Find Every Permanent Upgrade
Wandering blindly through grid dungeons is a fantastic way to let the enemy hordes put you six feet under, which is exactly why you need to hunt down these Relics immediately.
The transition to turn-based combat means you cannot just rely on twitch reflexes to survive anymore. You need hard data, mechanical advantages, and permanent account upgrades to stand a chance against the deeper dungeon bosses. In Vampire Crawlers, these game-altering modifiers are called Relics. They function as permanent toggles that drastically alter your gameplay experience. Some are handed to you gracefully during the tutorial. The rest are buried deep within specific dungeon floors, guarded by some of the most frustrating encounters the game has to offer.
If you are struggling to build a proper deck or failing to trigger your evolution combinations, you are probably missing a crucial Relic. I have scoured every floor to find these items so you do not have to wander aimlessly. Once you secure them, you can head over to the Relics house in the village to toggle them on or off, though I highly recommend keeping them active unless you actively enjoy making your life miserable.
Every Relic Location and Effect
You will not find these sitting right next to the dungeon entrance. The random nature of the floor generation means a Relic can spawn anywhere on its designated level. You have to commit to a full exploration sweep if you want to bring these back to the village.
Securing the Overkill Economy
Now before you waste your gold tweaking card slots at the Blacksmith, you need to understand how vital the Overkill and Ovenkilt Relics are. Getting your village economy up and running is the hardest part of the early game. You are constantly starved for coins.
Overkill completely changes the math. Found at the end of the Teeny Bridge, it lets you unleash your remaining hand on a boss after its health bar hits zero. Every extra point of damage converts directly into bonus gold. Once you beat the final boss and acquire Ovenkilt, this rule applies to every single encounter in the game. Combined with the Ultimate Ultra Overkill Relic from the Curd Refinery, you can start pulling thousands of coins out of a single run. I strongly advise ignoring the expensive Jeweler upgrades until you have this specific Relic trifecta locked down. How to Unlock the Pentagram Card
While technically a weapon card and not a traditional village Relic, the Pentagram is treated exactly like a hidden treasure. The game tells you absolutely nothing about how to find it. You need it because it is a devastating 5-cost red card that erases an entire row of enemies from the grid, and more importantly, finding it is the only way to unlock the character Christine Davain.
To unlock the Pentagram, you have to push a Crawler to level 40 in a single dungeon run.
This sounds simple on paper, but it is a massive nightmare in practice. A standard, successful run through the late game dungeons will usually cap out around level 35. The game simply does not spawn enough enemies organically to feed you the experience required to hit 40 before the final floor boss ends the run.
The Level 40 Strategy
If you want the Pentagram, you have to manipulate the spawn rates and experience yields manually.
First, go to the Power Up house in the village and max out your Curse stat. Curse makes enemies hit harder and take more punishment, but it drastically increases the raw experience points they drop. Next, max out your Growth stat, which provides a flat percentage boost to all experience gained without making the enemies any deadlier.
You want to attempt this run in Gallo Tower. It is a massive dungeon with a high density of enemy encounters, but it lacks the run ending boss mechanics found in the Dairy Plant or Curd Refinery.
I highly recommend bringing Krochi along in your party if you have unlocked him via my Vampire Crawlers Character Unlocks guide. His innate Revival skill gives you a safety net when the Curse stat inevitably causes a standard skeleton to hit you for half your health bar. Take your time, clear every single room on every single floor of the Tower, and the Pentagram will finally appear in your draft pool right as you cross the level 40 threshold.
