Xbox's Next Limited Edition Controller Is Storm King, Themed to Gears of War: E-Day
The next limited-edition Xbox controller already has a name, a price, and a design, all tied to Gears of War: E-Day, weeks before Microsoft has said anything official.

The controller is called Storm King, according to a report from Dealabs. It's priced at €89.99 / £84.99 / $89.99, identical to the previous limited-edition Forza Horizon 6 controller. An official announcement is expected within two weeks, timed to ride the attention around Gears of War: E-Day's beta window. Microsoft hasn't said anything publicly yet.
The Design
The shell runs a cracked black-and-red texture, styled after fractured volcanic rock. A red gear housing the Gears of War logo, the Crimson Omen, sits at the center, wrapping the Xbox button, view, menu, and share buttons in blood red. The left stick and the A, B, and Y buttons stay black. The right stick and X button pick up the same red.
Riding the Beta Window
Gears of War: E-Day's early access period for pre-order holders and Game Pass Ultimate or PC members started today, August 6, running through August 10. The open beta follows August 13 through 17. The full game launches October 6, with the Collector's Edition available from October 1. A controller reveal timed to the beta window, well ahead of the actual release, fits a fairly standard marketing rhythm for Xbox's limited-edition hardware.
A Second Data Point on Pricing
Storm King's price matches the Forza Horizon 6 controller exactly. That's two limited-edition Xbox controllers in a row landing at the identical $89.99 mark, worth watching the next time one of these gets announced.
Xbox-Only, Like the Game Itself
Gears of War: E-Day's platform story got resolved back in June, when CEO Asha Sharma announced the game would stay a console exclusive at the June 7 Xbox Games Showcase, after earlier signals had pointed toward a PlayStation release. A controller built entirely around Gears of War's own branding only really makes sense once that exclusivity was locked in.
What's Still Unknown
The exact release date for Storm King hasn't surfaced yet. The leak's own estimate puts an official announcement within two weeks, but Microsoft controls that timeline, not the leak.
