007 First Light Guide: Crashing the Party for Ellis White
Getting an invite to the Ocean View Bar takes a little more effort than asking nicely.
You touch down in Vietnam with a simple goal: track down your targets and tag them. Ellis White is one of these marks, but he is hiding behind a VIP rope, a grumpy bartender, and a storage room packed with guards. The game refuses to hold your hand here. If you want to plant the Q-Trak on him, you have to get creative. Plus, if you manage to clear this section cleanly, you walk away with three unique challenges.
Finding Ellis and the Party Crasher Challenge
The first hurdle is just getting into the venue. Ellis is drinking at the Ocean View Bar, but you need to know exactly where to look.
Once you arrive at the resort, head down the stairs and keep moving southeast. Follow the rock steps down until you hit the bar entrance. Two guards are blocking the way, and they absolutely will not let you in without a flyer.
After you talk to the bouncers, two women will walk up and sit down right behind you. They happen to have the exact flyer you need. Before you alert the entire resort by trying to pickpocket them in broad daylight, hit them with either your Phone Dart or the Laser Strap. Once they are stunned, snag the flyer, show it to the guards, and walk right in. Doing this unlocks the Party Crasher challenge (and proves James Bond has zero issues stunning innocent vacationers just to skip a line).
The Blanc the Brut Challenge
Once inside, approach Ellis. You are quickly tasked with following Jonty to find the bar keys, but you need to take care of the bartender first.
Before you go running off into the back rooms, walk up to the edge of the bar and interact with the wine menu. After reading it, walk over to the left side of the bar and speak directly to the bartender. Select the option to "order off the menu." Either dialogue choice works fine here. The bartender will get frustrated and wander off, which instantly pops the Blanc the Brut challenge.
The Key Master Challenge
With the bartender out of the way, you can slip behind the bar and push through the double doors into the storage room.
This room is currently occupied by two guards blocking your path to the keys. Before you try to squeeze past them and inevitably blow your cover, look around for a red toolbox. Inside that toolbox is a hose. Turn the water on, and the noise will distract both guards.
While they are busy looking at the puddle, grab the bar keys, vault over the ledge, and slip out the back door undetected. Bring the keys back to Jonty. As long as nobody spotted you, the Key Master challenge is yours. If you find yourself constantly alerting guards during these tight encounters, it is highly recommended to study up with my 007 First Light stealth guide to tighten your approach.
Planting the Q-Trak
Now that you have the keys and Jonty is ready, it is time to serve Ellis his final drink of the night.
Head back to Ellis and unlock the minibar. You have four different drink options to choose from. Ellis demands something that "kicks harder than a mule," so I went with the Tequila Slammer. Truthfully, the choice is entirely cosmetic and doesn't change the outcome mechanically. Pick your poison, serve the man his drink, and the Q-Trak will be planted automatically as he takes a sip.
Ellis White Challenges Overview
Keeping track of these optional objectives is half the battle when you are deep in enemy territory. Here is exactly what you need to do to sweep the board.
If you miss any of these, you have to reload an earlier save. Sneaking past those storage room guards is a strict pass or fail scenario. Once you have this area cleared and Ellis is tagged, you are free to leave the area and hunt down the rest of your targets, or maybe take a detour to finish your collection with my 007 First Light all playing cards guide.
