ARC Raiders Matchmaking Is Back (That Was Fast)
I have spent way more time looking at the lobby screen than shooting robots over the last few days.
If you have tried to drop into the Rust Belt recently, you know the pain. After running smoothly for ages, the matchmaking servers suddenly decided to take a nap this week. We have been dealing with infinite queue loops and wait times that forced us to Alt-F4 just to reset the game. It was a massive headache, especially since we are so used to things just working.
The Short-Lived Queue Nightmare
For a few days there, it looked grim. Reports showed players waiting multiple minutes for matches that usually pop instantly. The system would hang entirely, leaving you stuck in the menu while your squad wondered where you went.
For an extraction shooter where the tension is supposed to come from the gameplay, getting stressed out by the menu screen was definitely not on my bingo card.
Embark Squashed It Quickly
The good news is that Embark Studios didn't leave us hanging. They have officially stated that the backend gremlins causing these delays have been resolved. It is actually impressive how fast they jumped on this. One minute the servers were on fire, and the next they claim it is all back to normal.
I am just relieved. When ARC Raiders works, it is brilliant, but those few days of instability were enough to drive anyone crazy. It is safe to come back now, so hopefully the only thing wasting our time tonight will be our own terrible inventory management.
