Crimson Desert Map Guide: How to Fast Travel and Clear the Fog

Staring at a massive gray screen while Kliff wheezes out of stamina is a miserable way to spend your afternoon.

A character in Crimson Desert stands before a massive stone fortress and a towering gothic spire built into a rocky mountainside under a bright sky.

The world of Pywel is gargantuan. Pearl Abyss built a stunning continent, but they covered almost all of it in a thick fog of war and placed fast travel points miles apart. Trying to navigate this place purely on horseback is an exercise in pure frustration, especially when every bandit camp between you and your objective wants to wear your skin. You need to clear the fog and unlock the fast travel network immediately.

I spent hours running into dead ends and getting ambushed in the dark before I realized the map operates on a very specific set of rules. You cannot just walk into a new region and expect the map to magically populate. You have to work for it. Here is exactly how to reveal the entire continent, track down the hidden teleportation nodes, and bypass the walking simulator entirely.

Clearing the Fog: The Eight Bell Towers

To actually see the roads, topography, and points of interest, you have to track down eight specific Bell Towers tied to the Pororin Forest Guardians faction.

Ringing these bells summons a Shai child who magically clears the fog for that surrounding region. Ringing all eight automatically unfogs the entire continent. Some of these towers are sitting in plain sight inside major cities. Others are locked behind hostile territory or weird environmental puzzles. If you are struggling to survive the trek to these locations, make sure you check out my beginner tips guide

Bell Tower Locations

The exact locations to clear the fog of war across Pywel.

Region / City Specific Location Details
Hernand Found early in the campaign near the Shai child. Very hard to miss.
Scholastone At the end of the institute's promenade. Ring it after finishing the main quest here.
Calphade Near the church. The city is hostile until you liberate it in Chapter 6.
Pailune Hostile territory. You must clear the Chapter 7 main quest to access it safely.
Delesyia Located right in the town square near the local shops.
Tomasso Sitting in the middle of the Crimson Desert. Accessible during free roam.
Demeniss Climb the tower, look for the handlebars on the side, and pull the banners down to reveal the bell.
Varnia Far northeast map edge. Push the wooden lever at the top to open the mechanism.

Unlocking Fast Travel Nodes

Seeing the map is only half the battle. You still need a way to instantly teleport across it when your inventory is bursting with heavy loot.

Crimson Desert uses two distinct types of fast travel anchors. The Abyss Nexus nodes are standard teleporters. They look like stone platforms with a pressure disk right in the center. Step on the disk, wait a few seconds, and the node activates, turning blue on your map.

The Abyss Cressets are significantly more annoying. These nodes are usually buried inside Ancient Ruins and require you to solve an environmental puzzle before they power up. The upside is that activating a Cresset also rewards you with an Abyss Artifact. I strongly advise spending those artifacts on your base stamina, which I cover extensively in my best early skills guide.

Hunting Mysterious Energy

Fast travel nodes do not just magically populate on your map for you to click on. You have to actively hunt them down in the wild.

As you explore, you will notice white question mark icons populating your environment tab. The game labels these as "Mysterious Energy". When you get close to one of these zones, use your Blinding Flash ability. Triggering this casts a silvery glint in the distance, pinpointing the exact location of the hidden Nexus or Cresset. You still have to walk over and interact with it, but the flash stops you from running in circles looking for a pressure plate hidden in tall grass.

I recommend activating the fast travel point just north of Hernand as soon as humanly possible. You will be traveling back and forth to this city constantly to dump your loot and repair your gear. If you are struggling to find enough room to carry everything back to town, you should probably look into increasing your inventory space.

The Skydiving Shortcut

Sometimes you need to reach a remote cliffside and there is absolutely no fast travel point nearby.

The Abyss is not just a hub for puzzle islands. It is the ultimate vantage point. If you open your map and switch to the sky view, you can fast travel to the floating islands suspended high above Pywel. From there, simply jump off the edge and skydive toward your actual destination on the ground. You bypass mountains, hostile armies, and the general tedium of walking.

Just remember to manage your stamina while gliding so you do not shatter Kliff's legs on impact. Dip in and out of your glide to regenerate stamina while free falling. If you misjudge the drop and run out of energy midair, you can use your Axiom Force grapple to suspend yourself. Pausing the game while suspended will reset your position back to the safety of the sky island checkpoint.
