Crimson Desert Guide: Uncovering The Hidden Merchant Restock Timers
Figuring out exactly when vendors refresh their inventory in Crimson Desert is a frustrating guessing game, but I finally mapped out the hidden schedule.
Crimson Desert features a massive economy, but the game absolutely refuses to tell you how the gears actually turn. You can burn through your supplies in a single tough boss fight, limp back to a safe zone, and find the local grocer completely sold out of everything useful. The game gives you zero indication of when they will get new stock. There is no countdown timer and no dialogue prompt to give you a hint.
You just have to understand the internal clock. One full in game day translates to roughly two hours of real time. Depending on what kind of shop you are visiting, you could be waiting anywhere from a single day to nearly a week for fresh goods. I spent an unreasonable amount of time staring at shopkeepers to figure out the exact rotation so you do not have to.
The Complete Merchant Schedule
There are twelve distinct types of vendors scattered across the map, and they are divided into three very strict restock categories based on what they sell.
The Shops That Never Refresh
You probably noticed the bottom row of that table. Saddleries, Dye Houses, and Furniture Shops simply do not restock their goods. I personally waited over 30 in game days, which translates to a miserable 60 hours of real life time just letting the game run, and their inventories never moved an inch.
I have seen some community rumors floating around claiming that completing specific main quests will magically refresh these specific vendors. I tested this theory thoroughly and could not replicate it at all. As far as my current testing shows, what you see is exactly what you get for the entire playthrough.
Fixing The Proximity Glitch
There is a very annoying mechanical quirk that you need to be aware of if you are trying to gather resources efficiently. Sometimes the game gets confused if you are standing directly next to a merchant when their timer is scheduled to roll over. The vendor simply will not update their inventory while you are in their face.
If you know a restock is definitely due and the shelves are still empty, you have to force the game to reload the NPC. You can do a quick manual save and reload from the main menu, or just use the fast travel system to jump to a completely different region and immediately jump back. This usually forces the shop to finally update its internal list.
Handling Rare And Unique Items
Basic crafting materials and food will eventually cycle back into the economy, but unique items play by entirely different rules. Things like crafting books, special equipment, and high tier recipes are strictly one time purchases. They will never restock once you buy them.
If you accidentally discard a crucial blueprint from your inventory, you are thankfully not completely locked out. You can recover dropped unique items by heading back to the Howling Hill camp and talking to Ben.
However, if you actually sold that unique item to a random merchant for a quick influx of silver, Ben cannot help you. You have to remember exactly who you gave it to and buy it back directly from their specific inventory.
