Crimson Desert Money Guide: How to Farm Silver Fast and Stop Being Broke
Everything in Pywel wants to kill you, and being poor just makes it happen faster.
Being flat broke while a boss beats the absolute shit out of you is a miserable experience. You need food to heal, you need materials to upgrade your armor, and you need to pay off the occasional bounty when you accidentally swing your sword into a civilian. All of that requires hard currency. Crimson Desert operates on a copper and silver economy, where one hundred copper coins equal a single silver piece.
I spent a humiliating amount of time scrounging for dropped pouches off dead bandits before I realized there are significantly faster ways to fill my wallet. You do not need to grind for pennies. Whether you want to participate in honest labor or resort to grand larceny, here are the most efficient ways to farm money so you can stop worrying about your bank balance.
The Early Game Hustle: Red Croton Farming
When you first wake up in Hernand, you have nothing. Combat is risky, and your gear is practically made of wet paper. The safest and most brainless way to generate your first big stack of silver is picking flowers.
Head roughly 1000 meters south-west of Hernand deep into the woods. You will stumble upon a fast travel plate surrounded by massive fields of a red flower called Red Croton. There are hundreds of them densely packed together. Just run in circles mashing the gather button until your pockets are completely full. You can also catch the small insects buzzing around the petals to sell for extra copper.
Once you are loaded up, sell the entire haul to any merchant in town. The flowers take about an in-game week to respawn. It is not glamorous work, but it will easily net you enough silver to buy your initial gear upgrades. Just make sure you actually have the carrying capacity for this method. If you are constantly hitting your weight limit, take a detour and read my guide on how to increase your inventory space first.
White Collar Crime: Robbing the Hernand Bank
If picking flowers feels beneath you, robbery is always an option. The bank in the northwest district of Hernand is practically begging to be looted. The security is laughably light, but you still need to prepare.
First, get a mask to hide your identity. Second, buy a key from the back-alley vendor near the windmill outside Hernand. It costs 30 copper. Walk into the bank wearing your mask, unlock the side door with your key, and you are in. The room is filled with strongboxes and chests. Steal the strongboxes, but do not sell them directly. You need to open them in your inventory to claim the raw silver inside. You can also swipe the paintings and vases, which can be sold for a solid profit to Groks at the Goldleaf Tradepost black market.
I walked out of my first heist with nearly 90 silver. Just remember to stay completely out of sight until the crime search timer expires, or you will be dragged off to a cell. Late Game Wealth: High-Yield Mining
Once you have access to a pickaxe and a horse that will not collapse from exhaustion, mining becomes the dominant form of income. The starting areas are stripped clean of valuable minerals, so you need to ride out toward the harsh northern and eastern territories.
The main road leading to the northernmost town of Varnia is littered with Scolecite and Azurite deposits. These crystals sell for a premium. If you want the real money, you have to go hunting for diamonds. They are rare, slow to respawn, and usually hidden deep inside caves, such as the crater southeast of Howling Hill or the southwest corner of Demeniss.
Wall Street of Pywel: Bank Investments
When you finally accumulate a massive pile of silver, letting it rot in your pockets is a waste. You can put that money to work. Visit the bank in the north of Hernand and exchange 500 silver for a single Gold Bar. Pay the 100 silver fee to open a deposit box, and you can lock your gold away to generate passive income.
You get to set the investment strategy. Low risk guarantees a meager 0 to 2 percent return. Medium risk is the sweet spot, offering 15 to 20 percent profit. High risk dangles a massive 50 to 55 percent payout, but you can literally lose your entire invested Gold Bar if the market crashes. You can adjust your portfolio strategy every 15 in-game days. It is a slow burn, but passive income is the ultimate flex in a game this punishing.
Wagons and Minigame Cheeses
If you want to be a legitimate merchant, you can invest time into upgrading the Greymane Camp at Howling Hill. Recruiting Brice the Wagonmaster allows you to craft trade wagons. You can pack these vehicles full of regional goods and drive them across the map to sell at distant trading posts for a profit. It is tedious, but it is safe.
If you lack patience, hit the gambling dens. Towns like Hernand and Tomasso host card games where you can bet huge sums of silver. The AI in this game is famously susceptible to bluffing. If you go "all in" during the very first round of a match, the computer opponents will often match your bet with terrible hands. It is a highly exploitable way to drain their pockets.
