Dead as Disco Collectibles Guide: Tracking Down Every Main Story Item
Finding every hidden item in Dead as Disco takes a lot more than just casually exploring the stages.
You want to keep the band talking to you. You want those extra challenges. Most importantly, you want all the cosmetics. I completely understand the drive to hunt down everything this game has to offer. I spent a massive amount of time scouring the maps myself. Searching for items blindly will only send you back to the lobby empty-handed. Dead as Disco hides its secrets incredibly well.
Before you waste three hours wandering through empty corridors, you need to understand how the spawning system works. The game does not hand these items to you on a silver platter. You have to trigger them deliberately. I missed several of these during my initial run because I simply did not complete the prerequisite steps. Do yourself a favor and prepare properly.
The Spawning Requirements
If an item refuses to spawn for you, you are likely missing a crucial step. You cannot jump into a stage and expect the object to be sitting there waiting for you. The game demands a specific sequence of events. Do these three things before you even start looking for anything.
First, you need to complete the Idol stage and get them to the encore. Do not bother searching before you hit this specific milestone.
Second, you have to talk to them. You need to keep chatting until their dialogue completely repeats itself. Exhaust every single line of text. If they still have new things to say, the items will remain completely hidden from you.
Third, you must collect the items in chronological order. You cannot skip ahead. Find the first item before you move on to the second. Grab the second before you look for the third. Stick strictly to the sequence.
Dex's Collectibles
Dex has three specific items scattered around. You will need to bounce between his stage and The Encore to track them all down. Pay close attention to the corners of the rooms during combat encounters.
Prophet's Collectibles
Prophet brings a mix of stage exploration and a specific Infinite Disco challenge. The game gets a little tricky here by placing an item technically out of bounds. Trust me, you can still grab it without breaking your run.
Hemlock's Collectibles
Hemlock will actually send you back into Prophet's stage for one of his items. You will also need to survive a brutal challenge in Infinite Disco. Focus your aggression strictly on a single target during the Double Trouble fight to get through it in one piece.
Arora's Collectibles
Arora, or Rori, requires you to look carefully during some highly visually intense moments. You will be walking up walls and checking the backs of creepy mannequins down in the abyss. Do not rush through the train tunnel or you will walk right past her second item.
These cover all the currently available items required for the main story arc. I will track down any side collectibles for the encore once they drop.
