Lair Bosses guard some of the best targeted loot in Lord of Hatred, and none of it opens without a key, so running dry on Lair Keys means standing outside the best content in the game with nothing to do about it.

Not every method here pulls equal weight, and a couple of the strongest options won't open up until you're deep enough into the endgame to unlock them. Here's the full list, ranked from foundation to background noise.

War Plans: Where Everything Starts

The War Plans system is the default recommendation for a reason. It feeds every other method on this list. Nearly every activity inside a run carries a chance at a key drop, and clearing the campaign to open the chest next to Tyrael gives you another roll on top of that. Completed activities also bank XP toward Activity Perks, so a War Plan run is never wasted time even on a dry pull.

War Plans won't guarantee a key on any given run. What they will do consistently is hand out Escalation Sigils and Tribute of Titans caches, and those two rewards unlock the best farming methods on this entire list. Treat every run as an investment in those drops, not just the immediate payout.

One thing worth using and worth remembering: you get three free rerolls per War Plan. If the activity lineup looks slow, burn a reroll. Speed here directly translates to more Sigils and Tributes over time.

Escalating Nightmare Dungeons: The Best Raw Output

Land an Escalation Sigil and don't let it sit in your inventory. Escalating Nightmare Dungeons are the strongest raw source of Lair Keys available right now, full stop.

The format stacks Nightmare Dungeons back to back, each one tougher than the last, ending in a fight against Astaroth. Beating him gets you a solid shot at Lair Keys, high-quality loot, and Boss Trophies in the same run. Push into T8 on the Torment scale and Escalation Sigils themselves start dropping from the activity, which means a strong enough build turns this into a loop that feeds itself.

If you're not seeing Sigils drop at that rate, the build is the bottleneck, not the mechanic. Worth checking where your power actually sits before assuming the system's letting you down.

Kurast Undercity: Guaranteed, But You Need the Ticket

If chance isn't good enough for you, Kurast Undercity with a Tribute of Titans gets you guaranteed key drops instead of a shot at one. The catch is supply. Tributes aren't purchasable, so War Plan reward caches are your only real source, which loops you back to grinding those runs regardless.

Once you've got one, bring your fastest build. A Tribute shortens your time window, and a slow clear costs you both Attunement stacking and the keys tied to it. You can extend the timer by killing more monsters along the way, but the priority here is speed, not thoroughness.

Supply is the only real problem with this method. When you have a Tribute in hand, use it. Don't sit on it waiting for a better moment.

World Bosses and Legion Events: Take Them When They're There

Neither of these is farmable on demand, but both carry a solid chance at Lair Keys and Boss Trophies, which makes skipping them a mistake if the timing lines up.

World Bosses spawn roughly every three and a half hours somewhere random on the map. Legion Events run far more often, about every 30 minutes. When either shows up, note the location and make the trip. Both are multiplayer by default, so fights move fast, and the reward relative to the time spent is genuinely solid when it happens to line up with your session.

The Background Tasks Worth Ten Seconds

Working through War Plans naturally racks up Tree of Whispers Bounties along the way. Once enough stack up, claim the reward cache from the tree or the birds nearby. Lair Keys sit in that loot pool, so cash bounties in regularly instead of letting them pile up unclaimed.

Same logic applies to Fayira's Mercenary Bartering store. She occasionally stocks Boss Summoning Caches, and grabbing one takes about ten seconds when it's available. It's not a method you can rely on, but there's no reason to skip a free check between runs.
