Fatal Frame 2 Remake Guide: Every Twin Doll Location
Hunting for microscopic wooden toys while aggressive spirits try to fold you in half is exactly as miserable as it sounds.
I love spending my time exploring cursed Japanese villages, but forcing me to pixel hunt for 47 identical Twin Dolls in pitch black rooms pushes my patience to the absolute limit. You are already stressed out trying to manage your fragile film supply and dodge supernatural attacks. Adding a massive collectathon on top of that is frankly cruel. The developers hid these creepy little figures in the most obnoxious places imaginable, often requiring you to stare at distant rooftops or peer through tiny holes in the wall while hostile wraiths actively stalk you.
Before you start running around looking for these things, I highly recommend checking out my Fatal Frame 2 Remake all charms guide to buff your defense. You are going to take cheap hits while looking at the ceiling for a hidden doll. Also, if you are doing this to unlock a specific completion state, cross reference my Fatal Frame 2 Remake all endings guide so you do not waste a twenty hour playthrough making the wrong narrative choices.
Upgrades You Need First
You cannot just grab all of these dolls on a fresh save file. The game actively locks several of them behind specific camera filters and lens upgrades. Attempting to find them all without the proper gear will just result in you walking in circles and wasting healing items.
The Osaka House and Surroundings
The Osaka House is your first real test of nerves, and it holds a handful of these creepy figures.
Twin Dolls 001: Located in the Osaka House Kimono Room. After obtaining the Camera Obscura, walk into the room with the first save point and look around. It is essentially a freebie.
Twin Dolls 012: Found in the Osaka House Garden. You can grab this on the veranda during the Miyako Sudo side story.
Twin Dolls 018: Hidden in the Osaka House Storage Room. You absolutely need the Exposure filter equipped and you must have picked up the "Top of Stairs" photo from the Kayano hut first.
Twin Dolls 019: Located in the Osaka House Hallway. This requires the exact same setup as 018. Check the hidden balcony roof before you enter the room.
Twin Dolls 042: Found on the Osaka-Tachibana Path. During Chapter 2, look closely at the wooden platform. You will find one piece underneath the structure and the other sitting right on top.
The Kiryu House
The Kiryu House is incredibly claustrophobic, making it very easy to walk right past these collectibles while running away from an ambush.
Twin Dolls 010: Located in the Side Tatami Room. Just open the closet and point your lens inside.
Twin Dolls 011: Found in the Ombre Hallway. Someone shoved this doll into a dark corner right next to the window.
Twin Dolls 016: Hidden in the Sealed Room. As soon as you enter the Kiryu House altar area, position yourself behind the hole in the wall. You have to angle the camera perfectly to see both dolls at the exact same time.
Twin Dolls 017: Located in the West Hallway. Head up to the second floor and search the north side of the servant quarters.
The Kurosawa House
The Kurosawa property is massive and confusing. I spent way too much time getting turned around in these specific hallways.
Twin Dolls 005: Found on the Kurosawa House Grounds. During Chapter 2, stick to the left side of the exterior to spot this one.
Twin Dolls 007: Located in the Dirt Passageway. In Chapter 3, look for a hole in the fence on your left side. The doll is staring right back at you.
Twin Dolls 008: Hidden by the Courtyard Staircase. After you manage to escape Kusabi on the terrifying spiral stairs, calm down and look beneath the starting platform.
Twin Dolls 009: Found in the Meditation Room. During Chapter 4, walk up the left stairs in the House Altar Room and look closely at the top of the two pillars.
The Tachibana House
Things get significantly darker in this house, so keep your finger ready on the shutter button.
Twin Dolls 020: Located in the Projection Room. It is sitting completely exposed right next to the projector.
Twin Dolls 021: Found in the Hallway. You can grab this during Chapter 7 right after the ghost girl politely opens the door for you.
Twin Dolls 022: Hidden in the Clock Hall. Walk down the short flight of stairs near the save point.
Twin Dolls 045: Located at the Tachibana House Front. You have to crouch down to access a hiding spot on the other side of the broken screen door.
Shrines and Temples
Sacred ground in Minakami Village is anything but safe. Keep your guard up while aiming at the architecture.
Twin Dolls 003: Found at the Kureha Shrine. Check the right side of the building exterior.
Twin Dolls 014: Located inside the Kureha Shrine. During Chapter 2, point your camera to the left of the main altar.
Twin Dolls 015: Hidden in the Kureha Shrine Grounds. Walk around to the outside back left corner during Chapter 2.
Twin Dolls 023: Found at the Eikado Temple. Look underneath the physical temple structure. You will absolutely need the camera zoom upgrade to get the reticle to turn red.
Twin Dolls 024: Located in the Eikado Temple Antechamber. In Chapter 2, go under the shrine, up the stairs, through the door, and down the next set of stairs. Turn right at the bottom instead of going straight to find it.
Twin Dolls 025: Found at the Eikado Temple Entrance. Immediately after grabbing 024, walk through the door and immediately turn left.
The Deep Path and Underground
The underground sections of this game are pure anxiety. Get in, take the picture, and get out.
Twin Dolls 026: Hidden in the Deep Path Tunnel. Tucked behind a red pillar right before you enter the final area with the collapsed tunnel and the boss room. This is only accessible in the final chapter.
Twin Dolls 027: Located in the Deep Path Tunnel. Accessible only through the Kurosawa Hall of Ropes during the final chapter.
Twin Dolls 028: Found in the Deep Path Tunnel. Located directly underneath the Eikado Temple. You must have the Exposure filter equipped to see it.
Twin Dolls 029: Located in the Deep Path Osaka Basement. Found inside a very dark cave that you access during Chapter 5.
Cemeteries and The Woods
Wandering through the woods looking for toys is a great way to get ambushed by multiple wraiths at once.
Twin Dolls 031: Found in the Minakami Cemetery. Pushed into a corner right after you use the save point.
Twin Dolls 032: Located in the Minakami Cemetery. Sitting directly on top of a grave near the key.
Twin Dolls 033: Hidden in the Minakami Cemetery. You have to physically crouch down near the headstones to even see this one.
Twin Dolls 034: Found in Imiya South. Look up at the upper section of a small house in the southern bamboo area.
Twin Dolls 035: Located in the Abandoned Graveyard. Obscured completely by the dense bamboo.
Twin Dolls 036: Found in Imiya North. Step inside the small house located just past the graveyard.
Village Streets and Connecting Paths
The rest of the dolls are scattered randomly across the village exterior. You will likely walk past most of these multiple times before noticing them.
Twin Dolls 002: Located on the Kiryu-Tachibana Path. Sitting openly next to the second save point you find in Chapter 2.
Twin Dolls 004: Found at the Tsuchihara House. During Chapter 2, enter the ruined house next to the well and look straight ahead.
Twin Dolls 006: Located in the Kaya Hut. Step inside the cabin during Chapter 2.
Twin Dolls 013: Hidden on the Kiryu-Tachibana Path. Climb the stairs on the right side of the Tomanaki Gate and stare directly across at the roof of the Kiryu house.
Twin Dolls 030: Found on the Rear Path. Look closely after crossing the massive old tree in Chapter 8.
Twin Dolls 037: Located on the Tomanaki River Shore. You have to look completely across the river next to the rock cairns. The zoom upgrade is mandatory here.
Twin Dolls 038: Found in the Minakami Alleyway. Hidden behind a gate that you can only access after securing the Radiant filter.
Twin Dolls 039: Located on the Tomanaki River Shore. Stuck to a tree trunk during Chapter 2.
Twin Dolls 040: Found in the Storehouse. Simply climb the stairs during Chapter 8.
Twin Dolls 041: Hidden on Misono Hill. After getting the camera in Chapter 2, walk back to where you started the game and look toward the village rooftops.
Twin Dolls 043: Located in the Minakami Settlement. Sitting next to a pile of wooden crates in Chapter 2.
Twin Dolls 044: Found in Okunohara. In Chapter 2, walk past the tall grass and look through the window of the dilapidated house.
Twin Dolls 046: Located in Kayano. Check the top middle section of the map, on the opposite side of the bamboo fence during Chapter 2.
Twin Dolls 047: Hidden near the Kaya Hut. Turn your back to the front of the hut and look straight up. The dolls are resting on the cliff face above you.
