Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 Weapon Tier List: The Definitive Ranking
Dropping into a firefight with a garbage tier weapon in your hands is a surefire way to get put six feet under by the first person you meet.
Fortnite Runners mixes a chaotic batch of new firepower with some returning classics, and recent balancing patches have already completely gutted some early favorites. If you are relying on outdated strategies, you are walking into a trap. I spent extensive time testing every single arm in the current sandbox to separate the true competitive lasers from the absolute bait.
Before you waste three hours trying to make a gimmick pistol work against a fully geared opponent, check my ranking to see what actually deserves a spot in your loadout.
The Complete Meta Cheat Sheet
If you just want the fast track to building the perfect arsenal, I organized my personal ranking into a clean table so you know exactly what to grab off the floor. (Aka my personal TL:DR I see y’all-)
S-Tier: The Absolute Meta
These are the nonnegotiable powerhouses. Leaving any of these on the floor for an enemy to grab is a massive tactical error.
Striker Pump Shotgun
The undisputed king of close range combat is back. It remains the only true one-shot shotgun on the island right now. At Legendary rarity, a clean headshot delivers a devastating 201 damage. You suffer from pretty poor range, but its heavy burst damage and incredibly fast pull out time make it essential.
Surgical Burst Rifle
This rifle delivers incredible long range damage with almost zero bloom and beautifully manageable recoil. It rewards high accuracy tracking with an incredibly smooth firing rhythm. If you can hunt down the Mythic version, you will dominate across huge distances.
Flex SMG
This weapon completely invalidates the rest of the light ammo category. Firing from the hip gives you a blistering fire rate that effortlessly bleeds bullets straight through enemy structures. Aiming down your sights slows the fire rate to help you track mid range targets. It is an incredibly versatile hybrid weapon that only suffers from minor damage drop off at extreme distances.

A-Tier: Heavy Hitters
These items offer incredible utility and raw power. They serve as perfect substitutes if the loot pool refuses to hand you an S-Tier drop.
Chaos Reloader Shotgun
If you prefer consistent body shots over risky headshot hunting, this is your weapon. It boasts the highest body shot damage in the entire shotgun class. It also features a passive perk that automatically reloads the weapon while it sits stowed in your inventory. It has the absolute worst range on the map, but it rules boxfights with an iron fist.
Hunting Rifle
This is a marksman dream that completely bypasses traditional hitscan mechanics. It requires you to accurately lead your shots, but the payoff is massive. It is capable of a one-shot headshot at its lowest rarity in traditional Build modes, and maintains that lethal potential at Rare rarity or higher in Zero Build matches.
Overdrive Grenades
You are throwing your match if you do not pack these in your utility slot. They function exactly like standard Shockwave Grenades, except they give you a window of unlimited sprinting and boosted jump height without launching you through builds. They are extremely common, making high tier positioning accessible on almost every rotation.
B-Tier: Solid but Flawed
You can easily secure a win with these options, but they carry minor design flaws that keep them out of the top competitive tier.
Extending Focus Shotgun
This hybrid weapon changes its entire identity depending on how you pull the trigger. Firing from the hip gives you a rapid spread similar to the old Gatekeeper, while aiming down sights tightens the pellets into a mid range laser. It is a fantastic choice for Zero Build, but it is held back by a strict three-round magazine that forces constant reloads. If you want the absolute best version, you will have to farm the Skeletor boss.
Maven Auto Shotgun
This is easily the most beginner friendly weapon on the island. The full auto firing style allows you to generate massive close range damage without needing perfect timing. It shines brightly in Zero Build environments, but highly competent players will easily outclass you in Build modes using quick pump and wall edits.
Stinger SMG
An absolute menace for close quarters combat. It features a solid fire rate and carries the highly useful ability to bleed damage straight through built walls to pressure turtling opponents. It only drops down here because the Flex SMG heavily outclasses it in raw versatility.
Rift-to-Go
This remains a fantastic mobility item for escaping bad situations. Rifting yourself into the sky lets you glide and cross vast distances easily. The only drawback is that you can only hold a stack of two, severely limiting your long term mobility options compared to other items.

C-Tier: Niche Utility
These items are perfectly fine for early game skirmishes, but you should look to swap them out the moment you find better loot.
Chaos Exploder Rifle
At the launch of the season, this heavy assault rifle variant was a monster. However, it recently caught two massive consecutive nerfs to its base damage that dragged it straight down my meta ranking. It still features excellent accuracy and dishes out useful splash damage to punish squads that bunch up too closely, but the raw damage output just cannot compete with the Surgical Burst Rifle anymore.
Ranger Pistol
A highly accurate suppressed sidearm that excels during initial drop skirmishes. It boasts a very high headshot multiplier and carries almost zero bloom. It falls off incredibly hard past the mid game due to very poor range limits.
Seven Sliders
These utility boots transform your standard kneeslides into rapid powerslides. Aiming down sights while sliding slows your forward momentum to a crawl while maintaining the slide animation, letting you line up incredibly clean trick shots. The catch is that they overheat quickly, which destroys their durability and can cause you to fall flat on your face if you do not cool them down by sliding across water.
Shield Breaker EMP
A decent utility item to keep stowed away if you love hunting vehicles or annoying automated defenses. Throwing one creates a massive electronic pulse that disrupts cars and disables Business Turrets while stripping away enemy shields. It deals zero actual health damage and is easily countered by placing a simple wooden wall.

D-Tier: Total Garbage
In my opinion, you should not waste space in your inventory on these items. They will actively lose you fights against any semi competent opponent.
Lancehead Pistol & Mythic 9mm Baba Yaga
John Wick's signature handgun sounds incredible on paper, boasting a large 21-round magazine and a gimmick where throwing an empty mag deals 35 bonus damage. The reality is a complete nightmare. It is a strict semi automatic weapon, meaning you have to manually pull the trigger for every single shot. To make matters worse, it suffers from the most shaky, uncontrollable vertical recoil in the entire game, completely ruining your accuracy.
Business Turret
This is easily the worst item in the game right now. It functions as a deployable, AI controlled sentry that automatically tracks nearby targets. The damage output is incredibly low, the tracking speed is sluggish, and any opponent with a basic understanding of cover can destroy it without breaking a sweat.
