Fortnite Guide: How to Find and Master the Fishy Sprite
Fishstick's companion pet looks like a joke until an enemy opens fire and you turn the fight into a river chase they can't keep up with.
The Fishy Sprite only carries a base Rare rarity, which usually means skip it. This one's worth the detour. It's a mobility tool disguised as a cosmetic.
What Makes It Actually Useful
The pet grants a permanent bump to swim speed, which is fine on its own but not the reason to chase it. The real value kicks in the moment you take damage. Getting shot triggers a temporary spike in movement speed, and that's the difference between eating a second bullet and dolphin-hopping down a river channel while your attacker loses the angle. A losing fight turns into a clean exit.
Stat Scaling by Mastery Level
At Level 5 you're doubling your default swim speed, which makes rotating for loot or chasing down the storm circle a non-issue. It's less about looking cool underwater and more about never being the slowest squad in the water fight.
Where to Actually Find One
No combat tasks, no obscure achievements. This drops from floor loot, standard chests, Supply Drops, and Sprite Chests, so the fastest route is just leaning your rotation toward water-heavy zones like Heatwave Harbor or Cluster Coast, where container density does the work for you.
There's also a direct method: find an active Fishing Spot, identified by the circle on the water's surface with fish visible underneath. Grab gear from a wooden barrel near the shoreline, cast a line, and wait. Gold-glowing spots mean Legendary Loot is in the pool, so those are worth the extra minute.
Don't Lose It Before It's Locked In
Holding the pet in your inventory means nothing if you get eliminated first. Whoever kills you inherits it. Get to an Extraction Site or drop a Portable Extractor before the storm forces a fight you're not ready for.
Once it's actually banked, the pet scales into Gold, Gummy, and Galaxy variants later in the season. Worth flagging though: those cosmetic variants make you visible from across the map, so equipping one turns you into a priority target the second another squad spots the shine.
