Fortnite's DC Summer Event Just Handed Us Five New Sprites Worth Chasing

Fortnite Runners just leaned all the way into summer with a DC crossover and a World Cup tie-in running at the same time, and there's a genuinely fun little Sprite hunt buried inside both of them.

Starting July 16, the island turned into a Batman playground, complete with the Grapnel Gun and a Batman Beach Buggy you can cruise around in with friends. Layered on top of that, Chapter 7 Season 3 has been going all in on the FIFA World Cup too, bringing in icons like David Beckham and letting players grab a free football-themed skin just for playing on mobile. Both of these events brought their own Sprites into the mix, and by my count there are now five worth knowing about. Some are genuinely worth chasing down. One, I'm honestly not sure even exists in the game yet. Here's everything I found out about each one.

The Seven Sprite: Best for Tracking Down Opponents

If you're the kind of player who wants to know exactly where everyone else on the map is hiding, the Seven Sprite is the one to prioritize. Fair warning though, there's no dedicated spot where it spawns, so you're leaning on RNG here more than with some of the others.

Since it's a Legendary, Sprite Chests give you the best odds, though it can technically drop from a regular Chest too. Here's every way I've seen it show up:

  • Chests and Rare Chests (low chance)

  • Sprite Chests (best chance)

  • Sprite Locator, the new Gizmo (this is actually how I got my first Seven Sprite variant)

  • Dropped from other players carrying it, whether through trading or eliminations

It also comes in a few Special versions, Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, and Holofoil, all a bit rarer than the base one. If you want better odds at consistently hitting Sprite Chests, running a dedicated loot path helps a lot more than just wandering and hoping.

What the Seven Sprite Does

Once equipped, the Seven Sprite reveals enemy foot trails, which sounds small until you're actually using it to close the gap on a squad that thinks they've lost you. The effect covers your whole team too, so you really only need one person in your Duo, Trio, or Squad carrying it for everyone to benefit. It does have a limited range though, so don't expect it to solve every fight from across the map.

The Batman Sprite: For Players Who Love Moving Vertically

This one's tied directly into the Bat Cape mechanic, and honestly, it's the Sprite I'd point toward if you already like using the Grapnel Gun to get around.

The most reliable way to get it is by challenging one of three NPCs on the island. They're passive by default, but attacking them turns them hostile, and beating any of them has a high chance of dropping the base Batman Sprite.

NPC Location
Poison Ivy Beach south of The Bus Stop
Catwoman Beach south of Wonkeeland
Harley Quinn Beach south-west of Sinister Strip

Since the Batman Sprite is a Mythic, its drop rate is lower than the Seven Sprite's, but there are other ways to grab it too, including Hot Bat Summer Quests, which unlock the base version as a bonus reward, plus the usual Chests, Sprite Chests, and the Sprite Locator Gizmo. The Special versions stack up nicely too, with Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Holofoil, and Cube variants all in the mix. Once you've got one, I'd genuinely recommend using a Portable Extractor right away. Losing a Mythic Sprite at an Extraction Point after all that NPC hunting is not a fun way to end a match.

What the Batman Sprite Does

Equip it and you can leap into the air and deploy the Bat Cape, basically giving you the same movement trick as the Batman Grapnel Gun. There's a short cooldown between uses, so it's not something you can spam, but for anyone who likes gliding across the map instead of running it, this one's a treat.

The Air Sprite: My Favorite Pickup From the DC Event

Out of the DC additions, this is the one I'd tell you to grab first if movement is what you care about most. It's a Rare Sprite, and unlike the Seven and Batman Sprites, the drop rate on the base version isn't bad at all. It shows up fairly often from Chests and Sprite Chests, and honestly getting one didn't take much effort.

Here's everywhere it can drop from:

  • Chests and Rare Chests

  • Sprite Chests

  • Sprite Locator Chests (the new Gizmo)

  • Cluster Found Quests (this is exactly how I ended up with my Holofoil Air Sprite)

  • Dropped from other players carrying one

There are four variants right now, Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, and Holofoil, and it wouldn't surprise me if more get added as the season goes on.

What the Air Sprite Does

This is where it gets good. The Air Sprite boosts your sprinting speed and sprinting jump height, and it completely nullifies fall damage while equipped. That last part is the real selling point for me. Being able to leap off a tall structure without worrying about the landing changes how you approach rotations entirely. Just keep in mind your stamina still drains during sprinting and sprint jumps, so it's not a free pass to run forever.

The Vini Jr. Sprite: The World Cup Event's Rare Pull

Alongside the DC content, Fortnite brought Vini Jr. back into the game, this time as a super rare Mythic Sprite tied to the World Cup celebrations. This is the one I'd genuinely be patient with, because the odds are rough.

It's found almost exclusively in Sprite Chests and regular Chests, but being a Mythic, the chance of pulling it that way is low. Here's the full list of ways it can show up:

  • Chests (low chance)

  • Sprite Chests (best chance)

  • Cluster Found Quests (low chance)

  • Sprite Locator (the new Gizmo)

  • Dropped by other players carrying it, through trading or eliminations

The good news is you only need to extract one to lock it into your collection permanently. If you happen to lose it after that, you can summon it back for 7,500 Sprite Dust, so it's not a total loss the way some Mythic drops can feel. It doesn't have any Special versions right now either, so once you've got the base one, that's the full set. I'd still keep a Portable Extractor ready the moment you spot it, because with odds this low, you don't want to risk losing your only shot.

What the Vini Jr. Sprite Does

This one has a genuinely fun niche ability. Sprint for a short time and your slide becomes destructive, letting you break structures and damage enemies with a slide kick. Landing that slide kick on an enemy player also boosts your weapon's fire rate and reload speed for a short window afterward, which stacks up nicely if you're already running an aggressive playstyle.

The strength of that boost scales with your Sprite's level:

Level Slide Damage Fire Rate Increase
Level 1 40 10%
Level 2 45 20%
Level 3 60 30%
Level 4 66 40%
Level 5 80 60%

Leveling this one up actually feels worth the grind, since the jump from Level 1 to Level 5 nearly doubles your slide damage and pushes the fire rate boost well past what you start with.

The Pollo Sprite: I'm Not Convinced This One's Actually Live Yet

And then there's the Pollo Sprite, and I want to be upfront with you here instead of pretending I've got the full picture. It's listed as a Mythic, and the ability sounds solid on paper. Get an elimination and you'll slowly regenerate shield for yourself and nearby squad members, with the duration stretching from 6 seconds at Level 1 up to 10 seconds at Level 5.

Here's the thing though. I haven't seen anyone actually confirm they've pulled one, and at 0% found, I'm genuinely unsure whether it's live in the loot pool yet or just sitting in the files waiting for its moment. This reminds me a lot of when the Galaxy Zero Point Wildcard first went live. That one took days before anyone found it, and the first player or two who did get it lost it before they could even extract, so the whole thing felt more like a rumor than a real drop for a while. I wouldn't be shocked if the Pollo Sprite follows the exact same path. My advice would be to keep half an eye on it, but don't burn your whole session tearing through Sprite Chests hoping to find something that might not be findable yet. Save that energy for the Vini Jr. Sprite instead, where the grind is at least guaranteed to pay off eventually.
