High on Life 2 B.A.L.L. Gun Guide: All B.A.L.L. Guy Locations
If you have spent any time chilling in your Quarters, you have probably noticed the depressing, empty fish tank sitting to the right of your fridge. On top of it rests the useless, empty chassis of a gun.
This is the B.A.L.L. Gun. If you played the High on Knife DLC from the first game, you already know how absurdly powerful this pinball-launching monstrosity is. However, unlike every other Gatlian in High on Life 2, this weapon is not handed to you during the main campaign. It is the only entirely optional weapon in the game.
To make it function, you have to scour the galaxy for three specific alien creatures known as B.A.L.L. Guys. Gathering them requires you to participate in a rhythm game, a driving simulator, and a fishing minigame. I spent an absurd amount of time wandering around looking for these little blue dudes so you do not have to. Here is exactly what you need, where to go, and how to unlock the B.A.L.L. Gun.
The Mandatory Prerequisites
Do not start hunting for these guys the second you start the game. Two of the three locations are hard-locked behind specific Gatlians that you acquire through the main story.
Before you attempt this hunt, make sure you have completed the Finance Wiz James Stevenson bounty to unlock Bowie (you need his trick shot to open a specific door). You also need to finish the Larry Pinkstock murder mystery to unlock Travis (you need his levitation ability to lift a boat). Once you have both of these chatty guns in your inventory, you are ready to go.
B.A.L.L. Guy 1: The Liquid Nights Dance Battle
Your first target is located in Pinkline Harbor. Head to the southern part of the map until you find the entrance to the 'Liquid Nights' nightclub.
The bouncer will not just let you walk in. Look above the door and use Bowie’s trick shot on the rune to gain access to the immediate area. A group of enemies (the "Good Guys") will ambush you. Wipe them out, and the bouncer will finally step aside.
Once you are on the dance floor, head slightly to your right toward the DJ booth. You will see DJ Globbo and the first B.A.L.L. Guy trapped inside a small cage on the counter. Speak to the DJ to initiate a Dance Dance Revolution-style rhythm minigame.
The mechanics are simple: press the QTE button prompts perfectly in time with the horrific club music. You do not need to play a flawless game, but you do need to score over 200,000 points to impress the judges. Hit your cues, survive the song, and the DJ will hand over the first B.A.L.L. Guy.
B.A.L.L. Guy 2: The Crazy Taxi Mission
This one is easily the most stressful of the three. Fast travel to the Downtown area of Circuit Arcadia. Head north and walk up a level until you spot an NPC named Clutch standing next to a burning, wrecked taxi.
Talk to him. He will hand you a "Taxiball" and beg you to deliver his stranded customers. This triggers a blatant spoof of Crazy Taxi.
You have to roam the Downtown area looking for NPCs with checkered flag symbols over their heads. Once you pick them up, a brutal 30-second timer starts ticking down. You have to sprint to their destination marker before the timer hits zero. If you fail, the passenger literally dies inside the Taxiball.
The Morbid Achievement: If you are a completionist, you actually want one passenger to die. Let the timer expire. Take the corpse inside the Taxiball to a green toilet cubicle (there is one slightly north of Clutch's location) and flush the dead body down the toilet. This unlocks the highly missable 'Fare Thee Well' achievement.
Once you successfully deliver four or five surviving passengers, return to Clutch. He will ask you for one final ride to Rhea Pharmaceuticals (Rhea Plaza). The game gives you a very generous timer for this final run. Drop him off at the plaza, and he will reward you with the second B.A.L.L. Guy.
B.A.L.L. Guy 3: The Golden Fish
You cannot get the third guy until you acquire a fishing rod.
Getting the Fishing Rod
Head back to the beach area of Pinkline Harbor (the spot looking out at the massive cruise ship). You will find a depressed fisherman sitting in a chair complaining about his sunken boat. Equip Travis and use his levitation ability to yank the green boat out of the water. Talk to the fisherman again, and he will reward you with a fishing rod creatively named "Rod."
Catching the B.A.L.L. Guy
Now, fast travel to the Circuit Arcadia Zoo. Head to the far southeastern corner of the map until you find a body of water with a fishing pole icon and two white chairs. Suit-O will chime in with some dialogue confirming you are in the right spot.
Cast your line into the water. This pond has several unique fish, but you are looking for a very specific target. Ignore the massive shadows. You want to cast your line near the small, gold-colored fish that is emitting sparkles.
When the gold fish bites, hold the reel button. The game will trigger a directional minigame. Tap your movement keys in the opposite direction the fish is pulling to keep the dolphin icon inside the green circle. Once the circle is fully green, hit the final prompted button to yank the fish out of the water. Congratulations, you just caught the third and final B.A.L.L. Guy.
Assembling the B.A.L.L. Gun
With all three B.A.L.L. Guys safely rotting in your inventory, fast travel back to your Quarters. Walk over to the empty fish tank by the fridge and interact with the chassis on top of it.
Your character will dump the three blue aliens into the tank, and the weapon will finally activate. You will immediately unlock the 'B.A.L.L. in the Family' achievement, and the B.A.L.L. Gun will be permanently added to your weapon wheel. Enjoy turning every enclosed hallway in the game into a lethal, bouncing pinball machine.
