LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Stealth Guide
Walking through the front door and mashing the attack button works, but striking from the shadows is significantly more profitable.
Gotham City is packed to the brim with heavily armed thugs just waiting for you to make a mistake. While the game features a surprisingly robust brawling system, you do not always have to take on a massive crowd of enemies directly. TT Games built an entirely separate stealth mechanic that completely changes how you approach clearing a room.
Before you alert a dozen guards and lose all your health, you need to understand how the stealth system actually functions and why it benefits your wallet.
The Mechanics of Staying Hidden
You cannot just run up to an enemy in broad daylight and expect to quietly choke them out. The game relies on a strict line of sight system that dictates when a takedown is actually viable.
Reading Enemy Awareness
When an enemy starts to spot you, a question mark will pop up directly over their head. This means they are suspicious and actively investigating. If you stay in their line of sight, that question mark morphs into an exclamation point. Once that happens, you are fully revealed and the stealth approach is dead.
If you get spotted, do not panic. You can simply relocate to a darker corner of the room, hide, and wait for the question marks to completely disappear before attempting another ambush.
Executing the Move
To actually pull off a silent takedown, you need to sneak up on an unsuspecting enemy. When you get close enough, the target's entire body will highlight in red, and a specific button prompt will appear over them. Just press your Focus button to initiate the animation and quietly remove them from the board.
Types of Stealth Takedowns
You have three distinct ways to remove a thug without triggering a massive alarm. You need to use the environment to your advantage depending on where the enemy is patrolling.
The Tactical and Economic Advantages
Being quiet is not just about roleplaying as a ninja. It actively breaks the game's economy in your favor and feeds directly into your skill trees.
Farming Studs Efficiently
A successful stealth takedown rewards you with a larger payout of studs compared to standard combat. Clearing a room silently pumps out significantly more cash than fighting that exact same group head on. If you want to grab every cosmetic outfit without resorting to scanning physical toys from my redeem codes guide, you need to maximize your income by staying in the shadows.
Skill Track Bonuses
You can push the tactical advantages even further by investing in specific skill track upgrades. You can purchase a skill that drastically increases the amount of studs generated per stealth takedown. On the combat side, you can unlock an upgrade that actively generates your Focus meter every time you remove an enemy quietly, giving you a massive advantage when the bullets inevitably start flying.
Chasing the Platinum
If you care about maxing out your console profile, you have to embrace the stealth mechanics eventually.
The 100 Takedown Grind
There is a dedicated trophy called "I am the shadows" waiting for you. To unlock it, you need to perform exactly 100 stealth takedowns across your playthrough. If you accidentally triggered a massive brawl and missed out on a room full of easy targets, you can always use my mission replay guide to jump back into a completed level and safely farm the rest of your required kills.
