LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight All Red Bricks Guide
Running around Gotham in the standard black and grey suit is fine for your first hour, but eventually, you need to upgrade your wardrobe.
Red Bricks are the most valuable cosmetic currency in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Each brick you track down unlocks a completely new color scheme that you can apply to the game's massive roster of alternate suits. Finding all 23 of them gives you absolute control over your aesthetic.
Before you start tearing the open world apart looking for glowing red plastic, you need to understand how the distribution works. You will not find these sitting on random rooftops. Fourteen of them are locked behind specific puzzles hidden directly inside the main story missions. The other nine are locked behind a paywall in Bat-Mite's shop.
If you realize you missed a puzzle during your initial playthrough, do not panic. You can simply use my mission replay guide to jump back into the specific level via the Batcomputer and clean up your mess.
Mission Red Brick Locations
The developers tucked these fourteen bricks behind optional puzzle rooms scattered throughout the campaign.
Chapter 1 & 2 Puzzles
The early game puzzles are fairly straightforward and serve as a tutorial for the mechanics.
Ninja (Infiltration): After you build the catapult, grapple around the right side of the building until you find a vent opening. Drop into the puzzle room and place the scattered books onto the pressure plates. Use Bruce and your partner to depress the final two plates simultaneously to reveal the brick.
Nautical (New Beginnings): You will spot this brick inside a locked room next to the battering ram. Instead of trying the door, grapple onto the roof and drop through the open window.
Filthy Rich (Carmine Falcone): When you reach the Iceberg Lounge office, you need to open the massive safe. The combination is 596. You can technically find this code by inspecting the notes behind the bar, but you can also just punch the numbers in immediately.
Toxic Waste (The Red Hood Gang): After passing the giant vat of purple chemicals, look for a side room with a brick stuck inside a pipe. Use Jim Gordon's Foam Sprayer to plug the yellow leaks and force the brick out the other side.
Feline (Mimes): Underneath the gadget store, you have to play a maze mini-game. Guide the cat icon to the exit by stepping on the directional pads, but avoid the orange dog icon or you will get reset to the start.
Artist (Flugelheim): When Catwoman sends her kitty through the flap to hit the security button, ignore the button. Instead, platform above the monitor screen to find a second, hidden cat flap in the top corner. This leads directly to the brick.
Chapter 3 Puzzles
Things get slightly more complicated once Robin joins the crew, requiring precise timing and gadget use.
Gothic (The Penguin): In the Arctic World side room, use Catwoman to cut the glass and grab the red umbrella. Place the umbrella on the center podium, then whip the nearby switch to rotate the umbrella toward the caged brick to trigger the release mechanism.
Showbiz (Joker): Look for the glowing pink window above the second parade float. Send Catwoman inside and push the large TV exactly halfway into the room. Use her Call Kitty gadget, jump the cat onto the TV, up to the vent on the left, and follow the tunnel to the brick.
Clown (Two-Face): WARNING: Do not attack the enemies during the first combat encounter at Haly's Circus, or you will have to restart the mission. Stand on the yellow pressure pad of the strength tester machine to reveal three targets. Use Robin's customized Birdarang to hit all three simultaneously.
Late Game Puzzles
The final chapters force you to utilize environmental hazards and electrical currents to grab your loot.
Power Plant (Kite Man): Spawn into the mission and immediately pry open the door in the back left corner using Robin's staff. Inside, use Robin's Cable Launcher to connect the center console's blue battery to the right-side fuse box. Next, use his staff on the left-side panel to shut the main hatch. Swap to Batman and let the air stream push you to the ceiling. Swap back to Robin, open the hatch, and then quickly swap to Batman to grab the brick before you fall.
Flower Power (Poison Ivy): In the botanical side room, you have to place the potted plants into the center console in a specific order. The solution is almost always Red first, Green second.
Fire Breather (Firefly): In the museum's orb room, completely ignore the wall hints. Simply change all the planetary light projections to red. This forces the center orb to open and drop the brick.
Ice Age (Mr. Freeze): During the boss fight, ignore Mr. Freeze entirely. Have Batgirl open the grate covering the energy switches. Then, swap to Nightwing and use his Electrorang to hit all three switches simultaneously.
Bats (The League of Shadows Returns): When returning to street level, look for the garbage truck on your left. Use Nightwing to charge the truck's battery, then have Batgirl hack the controls to move it forward. Using it as a shield against the incoming missiles unlocks the final mission brick.
Bat-Mite Shop Red Bricks
You cannot find the remaining nine Red Bricks out in the wild. You have to buy them directly from Bat-Mite's store.
The catch is that his inventory rotates. The Red Bricks spawn randomly on the center pedestal every time you visit the shop, so you have to keep checking back. If you are struggling to afford the high-end variants, check out my unlimited studs guide to break the economy so you can buy out his entire stock instantly.
