LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Unlimited Studs Guide

Wayne Enterprises apparently funds its operations by making a grown man in a bat suit smash trash cans.

Gotham City is expensive. If you want to afford all the high-end gear at Bat-Mite's store or fill your garage using my complete vehicle unlock guide, you need to collect millions of studs. Grinding that much currency manually is a massive chore. A giant lime green pickle car isn't free, you know. Luckily, I spent enough time punching crates to figure out exactly how the economy works, including a massive exploit that fills your wallet instantly.

The Basics of Breaking Things

Before you start farming, you need to know exactly what you are picking up. Not all plastic coins are created equal.

Stud Color Currency Value
Bronze 1
Silver 10
Gold 100
Blue 1,000
Purple 10,000

Environmental Destruction

Destroying the environment is your main source of steady income. You want to target areas with high object density. Parks, wrecker's yards, and junkyards are your best bets. Before you waste hours punching individual boxes by hand, spawn a vehicle. You can use car missiles to instantly blow up large objects like wrecked cars, which vacuums up the currency automatically.

Crime and Caches

Keep an eye out for studs with a distinct shining effect. They are worth slightly more than their standard counterparts, and you usually trigger them by performing stealth takedowns on oblivious henchmen.

You also want to pay attention to your police radio. When you hear a red alert icon pop up, track it down. Stopping crimes around Gotham rewards you with a massive shower of studs falling straight out of the sky. Additionally, listen for a distinct beeping sound while exploring. That noise means you are near a hidden blue Stud Cache. Crack it open for a massive one-time payout.

Maxing Out Your Multiplier

Smashing benches only gets you so far. You need to upgrade your abilities to actually make a dent in the game's economy.

The Combo System

As you collect currency, you trigger a Stud Combo Multiplier. The more you pick up, the higher the multiplier climbs. It eventually starts doubling, tripling, and quadrupling your intake. The meter drains over time, so you have to keep moving and destroying things to maintain the buff. Think of it as a combo meter for capitalism.

Essential Upgrades

You need to spend your Gold Bricks in the Exploration skill tree to maximize this system. The base maximum multiplier is x2, but you can push it to a hard cap of x4 by buying specific upgrades. Here are the skills I highly recommend grabbing as soon as possible:

  • Hyper Combo (Tier 1 & Tier 4): Each tier increases your maximum multiplier by one.

  • Speedy Stud Combo: Your combo meter fills significantly faster.

  • Stud Combo Duration: Your combo meter takes much longer to deplete.

  • Stealthy Studs: Pulling off stealth takedowns actively increases your combo meter.

  • Stud Magnet (Tier 1 & Tier 2): You pull in currency from much further away, keeping your combo alive while you move.

The Infinite Stud Exploit

I found a trick that completely bypasses the grind. You can unlock a permanent, reusable cash injection right inside your home base.

The Survey Trick

Open up your pause menu and head to the Extras tab. Scroll down until you find the option for the LEGO Group Online Survey. It takes about two minutes to complete on a mobile device via a QR code. They just ask about your experience with the game and your interest in future products. Finish the survey, and you get an eight-digit code.

Take that code back to the Redeem Code section in your Extras menu or the main title screen. Punch it in, then completely restart your game.

Reaping the Rewards

When you log back in and travel to the Batcave, you will find a new bouncy castle prop and a special Stud Cache waiting in the garage. Opening this cache spits out thousands of studs instantly. The kicker is that this specific cache respawns every single time you visit the Batcave.

Even better, the payout scales with your Exploration skills. If you unlock all the magnet and combo upgrades I listed above, hitting that cache drops upwards of 30,000 studs per visit. Just fast travel away, come right back, and repeat the process until you are rich enough to buy the whole city.
