Outbound Fire Lookout Guide: Where to Find All 3 Terminal Keys
Before you go cross-eyed looking for a microscopic flash drive hidden in the grass, let me show you exactly where to find the security keys.
When you finally break away from the tutorial objectives and start exploring the map, the game points you straight toward the Fire Lookout. It is one of the first major landmarks you will visit on your road trip. You hike all the way up there, find the main computer terminal, and immediately hit a brick wall. The system is locked. To initiate the download, you need to track down a Terminal Executable, a Signal Decryptor, and a Password Databank.
The game does not give you any waypoint markers for these items. I spent way too much time staring at the floorboards, so I am going to save you the headache and point you directly to the loot.
The Fire Lookout Key Locations
You do not have to leave the immediate area to find what you need. All three items are scattered around the tower itself, mostly resting on furniture.
1. The Terminal Executable
You do not even need to leave the room with the computer to find your first item. Look around the main floor until you spot the kitchen islands. The Terminal Executable looks exactly like an old-school floppy disk. You will find it resting right on the counter next to a cup and a flower pot.
2. The Signal Decryptor
Once you have the floppy disk, head outside and look for the staircase leading up to the roof of the lookout tower. As you climb up, keep your eyes peeled for a chair and a small counter. You will see a standard water bottle sitting there. Right next to the stool, you will spot the Signal Decryptor. It looks exactly like a standard USB flash drive.
3. The Password Databank
Keep exploring the rooftop area. You are looking for a table with a lamp and a piece of pickable litter, which usually spawns as a banana peel. The Password Databank is sitting right there on the table. It looks like a bulky external memory drive.
What to Do Next
Once you have all three pieces of hardware crammed into your pockets, walk back downstairs to the main computer. Interact with the terminal to plug everything in and start your download.
Clearing this objective marks new landmarks on your map for you to chase down. Before you rush off to the next tower, I highly recommend taking a detour to stock up on raw materials. You are going to need a massive stockpile of Scrap Metal and Everwood to start building the new blueprints you just unlocked.
