Identifying the Infected in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check: Your Survival Cheat Sheet
Standing at humanity's final checkpoint is a thankless, miserable job where your only reward for a "perfect day" is not being eaten alive by the people you let in.
I’ve spent enough time staring at bloodshot eyes and listening to wet, rattling coughs to know that the apocalypse isn't just about shooting zombies. It’s about the paperwork. In Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, you’re the filter, and if you let a single carrier through because you thought their "virus breath" was just a bad lunch, it’s game over for the survivors' block.
The game doesn't hold your hand when the line gets long and the pressure starts mounting. You have to be cold, clinical, and absolutely ruthless. I’ve put together this list so you don't have to second-guess whether that guy with the "hyper reflex" is just nervous or a ticking time bomb.
The Visual Check: Eyes, Skin, and Hideous Marks
Before you even pull out your stethoscope, you need to use your own damn eyes. Most of the terminal cases are staring you right in the face if you know what to look for, but the devs like to throw in red herrings just to see if you’re actually paying attention.
The Windows to the Soul (or Lack Thereof)
Eye color is your fastest "yes or no" indicator. If their eyes are Yellow, you’re actually in the clear, surprisingly, the game treats this as a non-infection trait. However, if you see Conjunctivitis (pinkish/irritated), they need to go to Quarantine for a day or two. If those eyes are Red or glowing with a crimson tint, they are already gone. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just liquidate them immediately.
Skin Conditions and Hidden Bites
You’ll see a lot of Freckles and Bruises, and for the most part, these are harmless cosmetic distractions. Skin Cuts, on the other hand, are questionable enough to warrant a Quarantine stay. The real killers are Bite Marks and Necrosis. Survivors are liars by nature and will hide bites under their clothes, so you have to use your Scanner with the UV light to find the truth. If you find a bite mark, you liquidate them. Period.
Using Your Gear: Vitals and Reflexes
Once someone passes the eye test, it’s time to get hands-on. Your medical tools are the only things standing between a safe base and a total outbreak, but you have to use them correctly or you're just wasting time.
Thermo-Pulse and Respiratory Checks
The Thermo-Pulse-Meter is your best friend for catching the ones who are just starting to turn. A temperature between 37-41 degrees or a pulse between 120-180 means they’re "Possible Infected" and belong in Quarantine. If the temperature hits 41+ or the pulse screams past 180, they’re terminal. Pair this with the Stethoscope. A simple cough might just be a cold (Quarantine), but Virus Breath, that wet, rattling sound, is the sound of a corpse that hasn't realized it's dead yet.
The Hammer Test (Neurological Reflexes)
The Reflex Hammer is arguably the most satisfying tool in your kit, but don't just use it to vent your frustrations. You’re looking for specific neurological failures. A Hyper Reflex is when they attack you after a hit, which marks them as a candidate for Quarantine. A Cross Reflex is the "Infected" smoking gun where hitting one limb causes the opposite limb to twitch erratically. If you see a cross reflex, they’re infected.
The Decision Matrix: Trust, Quarantine, or Liquidate
Knowing the symptoms is one thing, but making the call is where the real stress kicks in. You have three choices for every person who walks up to your gate, and being "nice" will get you killed.
Trust (Approve): Only for those with Yellow eyes, freckles, bruises, or normal vitals. If they have minor issues like herpes or red skin (stress), they are usually safe to let in.
Quarantine: Use this for anyone with Conjunctivitis, skin cuts, elevated temperatures (under 41), or a "Hyper Reflex." Check them again in 24 hours. If they get worse, liquidate. If they clear up, let them in.
Liquidate: This is the "no second chances" category. Red eyes, bite marks, Necrosis, temperatures over 41, or a Cross Reflex. These people are a threat to your camp's survival and need to be neutralized immediately.
I've seen too many people try to "wait and see" with someone who has a bite mark. Trust me, it never ends well. Be a professional, follow the signs, and keep the horde on the other side of the fence.
