Resident Evil 9: Requiem Leaks Claim Leon Is Back (And Grace Is Fighting Her Mom)
We already know Resident Evil 9: Requiem is sending us back to the ashes of Raccoon City, but a new leak suggests the family drama is going to get a lot messier.
By now, you have probably seen the Steam page. You know the setup: Grace Ashcroft, introverted FBI analyst, heads to an abandoned hotel to investigate her mother's mysterious death. It sounds like classic, moody survival horror.
But according to a new lore dump on 4chan, the story is way crazier than the official blurb suggests. We are talking about mutated parents, a Mold-Progenitor hybrid virus, and the return of the man with the best hair in the franchise.
The Ashcroft Family Reunion
We know from the official description that Grace is looking for her mom. The leak takes this a step further and claims her mom, Alyssa Ashcroft, isn't just dead somewhere in the ground, she is the "stalking creature" we saw in the demo.
For the uninitiated, Alyssa Ashcroft was the investigative journalist from the Resident Evil Outbreak games. If this leak is true, Capcom is doing her dirty. After dying in the prologue, her body is supposedly taken by the main villain, Victor Yurichenko, and mutated into a recurring boss monster.
The virus causing all this is called "Elanthropus." It is allegedly a hybrid of the Mold (from RE7/Village) and the original Progenitor virus. The leak claims it keeps the host's consciousness alive in some victims while turning others into Cronenberg monsters.
Leon S. Kennedy Returns
It wouldn't be a Resident Evil game without a legacy character showing up to steal the spotlight.
The leak claims Leon S. Kennedy plays a major role, split into two phases.
The Investigation: He is hunting Victor Yurichenko for his connection to "Operation Elpis," a government initiative looking into secret groups tied to Umbrella's past.
The Rescue: Later in the plot, he shows up to save Grace.
This matches previous rumors from insiders like Dusk Golem, who claimed Leon would have a campaign set mostly in the past or separate from the main character. If true, we are getting the perfect blend of new-school horror (Grace) and old-school action (Leon).
The Monsters & The Twist
The leak also mentions that we are getting "deteriorated" versions of classic Raccoon City monsters, including Lickers, G-Types, and Drain Deimos. This fits perfectly with the "Return to Raccoon City" setting on the store page.
But the wildest claim involves The Connections. You remember them, the crime syndicate that created Eveline in RE7. According to this leak, they play a "surprise role" by actually helping Leon find Grace to stop a larger infection in Rhodes Hill.
The idea of The Connections playing the anti-hero role is bizarre, but after Village turned Chris Redfield into a villain for half the game, anything is possible.
As always, we are mining the depths of the internet garbage bin here. It is 4chan. It could be real, or it could be fan fiction written by someone who really misses Outbreak. But considering how specific the "Elanthropus" virus sounds, I am keeping one eye open.
