Romeo Is A Dead Man: The Only Weapon Guide You Actually Need

Most games encourage you to experiment with your arsenal, but Romeo Is A Dead Man quietly punishes you for being indecisive with your resources.

You have eight weapons to choose from, four melee and four ranged, and while the game pretends they are all valid choices, the math says otherwise. You unlock them with Emerald Flowsion (which is cheap) but you upgrade them with Sentrey (which is annoying to farm). If you try to level up everything equally, you are going to end up with a backpack full of mediocre junk that can’t scratch a boss.

I spent hours testing hitboxes, frame data, and the all-important Bloody Summer charge rates so you don't have to. Here is the breakdown of what kills things the fastest.

Melee Weapons: The Good, The Bad, and The Useless

Melee is your bread and butter here. You need something that builds the Blood gauge fast and doesn't leave you open to getting your face chewed off.

The clear winner is the Arcadia. It’s a spear. It has range, speed, and damage. The Spazer (katana) feels fast but hits like a wet noodle against bosses. The Star Destroyer (greatsword) hits hard but is so slow you’ll get interrupted constantly. The Juggernaut (fists) is fun if you have a death wish, but the lack of range is a liability.

MELEE WEAPON RANKINGS

I tested them all. Here is why the spear wins.

WEAPON TYPE MY TAKE
1. Arcadia Spear The undisputed king. Great range, high damage, and charges your Bloody Summer fast. Invest everything here.
2. Star Destroyer Greatsword Massive stagger potential and huge damage numbers, but the wind-up animation is painfully slow. High risk, high reward.
3. Spazer Katana Ideally for mobility, but the damage output falls off a cliff in the late game. It takes too long to kill tanky enemies.
4. Juggernaut Fists Garbage range. You have to essentially hug enemies to hit them, which usually results in you taking unnecessary damage.

Ranged Weapons: Guns Are For Utility

Guns in this game are mostly for hitting weak points or dealing with enemies that fly. You aren't playing Call of Duty.

The Nebuchadnezzar (Machine Gun) takes the top spot because it allows you to spray and pray at moving targets like Tomato Heads. The Diaspora (Shotgun) is a close second for sheer burst damage against big targets. The Yggdrasil (Cannon) looks cool but the reload time is a tragedy.

RANGED WEAPON RANKINGS

Bullets are expensive, make them count.

WEAPON TYPE MY TAKE
1. Nebuchadnezzar Machine Gun Best utility. The fire rate lets you shred weak points quickly and track erratic enemies without needing perfect aim.
2. Diaspora Shotgun The boss killer. Get in close and unload. It breaks weak spots instantly if you are brave enough to stand in the danger zone.
3. Discovery Pistol Reliable starter. It has good precision, but the damage just doesn't scale well enough for the endgame.
4. Yggdrasil Rocket Launcher A trap. It does huge damage, but the reload speed is so slow you could make a coffee while waiting to fire again.

How To Upgrade (Without Ruining Your Save)

You unlock weapons at the DeadBall Unlocker in the Training Room for 200 Emerald Flowsion each. Buy them all immediately. Flowsion is common, so there is no reason not to own the full set.

However, upgrading happens at the DeadBall Enhancer and costs Sentrey. This is the resource you need to be stingy with. Do not spread your Sentrey across eight weapons.

Pick one Melee (Arcadia) and one Ranged (Nebuchadnezzar or Diaspora) and dump everything into them.

The Upgrade Priority:

  1. Attack Power: This is obvious. More damage means shorter fights.

  2. Bloody Summer: This increases the strength of your special move. Since this move also heals you, upgrading it is basically upgrading your survivability.

  3. Blood Amount: This increases the gauge size or efficiency. Good for long fights.

  4. Break Ability: Important for the Star Destroyer, less crucial for others.

If you max out the Arcadia and the Machine Gun, you can pretty much autopilot through the hardest content. If you try to keep everything at level 3, you are going to hit a wall in the late game and have to grind specifically for Sentrey, which is a hell I wouldn't wish on anyone.
