007 First Light Guide: Fixing the Deadly Delivery Challenge

Before you smash your controller trying to magically spawn a proximity mine from thin air, know that the game actively locked you out of completing this challenge hours ago.

I originally tucked this trick into my massive 007 First Light Wave of the Future Challenges guide, but this specific objective is causing such a ridiculous headache that it absolutely demands a standalone breakdown. Slapping an explosive onto a robot vacuum cleaner sounds like standard, slightly absurd spy work until you realize your inventory is completely empty. The loadout system in this game is incredibly rigid. You cannot just reload your current checkpoint and equip the right gadget from a menu. The game tracks your physical loadout continuously from the previous chapter, meaning if you skipped picking up the mine earlier, you are completely out of luck. Rather than letting you ruin your playthrough searching for a gadget that literally does not exist in your current instance, I mapped out the exact workaround to reset your pockets and grab your kill.

The Loadout Trap

The primary friction point here is the persistent inventory system tracking your every move.

First Light forces you to carry whatever you had equipped during the actual story progression leading up to the Utility room. If you enter the Wave of the Future mission without the proximity mine already sitting in your inventory, you are trapped. Reloading the current checkpoint does absolutely nothing because your previous save state is already empty. You have to physically go back in time and change history.

The Q Lab Workaround

Fixing this oversight requires manipulating the chapter select menu and replaying a chunk of the campaign.

Fetching the Flash Mine

Back out entirely to the main menu and open your chapter selection screen. You need to load the penultimate checkpoint from the previous chapter, specifically titled "An unexpected call". When you load into the Q lab, do not rush the dialogue and sprint for the exit. Walk over to the Q bench and physically pick up the flash mine. This specific item acts as your proximity explosive for the challenge.

The Brutal Run Back

Now for the painful part. You have to play the game normally from the Q lab all the way back to the Utility room in the Wave of the Future chapter. This takes roughly ten to fifteen minutes of solid gameplay. Do not skip sections or try to force a fast travel glitch, as you need the game to register the flash mine in your inventory continuously as you cross the chapter threshold. If you need a refresher on how to clear those intervening sections efficiently or want to know what else is coming up, check out my 007 First Light How Long to Beat Chapter List to see exactly what stands in your way.

Executing the Hit

Once you finally reach the Utility room with the mine in hand, the actual assassination is delightfully chaotic.

The Server Room Setup

Navigate to the far back left corner of the server room. You will find a dead end hallway where two Webb guards are standing directly across from each other. Between them, a small robot vacuum cleaner goes about its designated patrol route. If you need a refresher on why you are blowing up these specific mercenaries, read my 007 First Light Villains Explained breakdown to understand exactly who you are dealing with.

Delivering the Payload

Wait until the vacuum cleaner is positioned exactly between the two guards. Equip your flash mine and toss it directly onto the top of the robot. You do not need to shoot the mine to trigger it. The proximity sensor triggers automatically when the robot scoots too close to the targets. The massive knockback pushes both guards violently into the server racks for a clean, albeit noisy, elimination. You get to walk away with the Deadly Delivery challenge finally checked off your list.
