Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Guide: Claiming Your Deluxe And Preorder Loot
Buying the fancy edition of a game is only half the battle when the menu completely hides your expensive new toys.
I know exactly how annoying it feels to drop extra cash on digital pirate swagger, only to start the game wearing basic rags. The Caribbean sea is full of new shipwrecks and deep sea diving spots to explore, but looking good while you plunder them takes a little patience. You cannot just slap on your bonus gear the second you hit the title screen. You have to put in a tiny bit of legwork before Edward and the Jackdaw can strut their premium stuff.
Decking Out Edward
Before you waste twenty minutes clicking through locked menus looking for your bonus swords, you need to actually finish the prologue.
You start the game with absolutely nothing. Push through the opening hours until you officially reach Havana. Once you set foot in the city, your inventory screen finally opens up properly. Open it, check the gear slots, and you can freely equip all your shiny new clothes and weapons.
Upgrading The Jackdaw
Getting your ship looking pretty takes slightly longer than changing your pants.
Your deluxe naval cosmetics stay locked away until you fully complete Sequence 2. Once you hit Sequence 3, wait until you trigger a specific mission called "Prizes and Plunder." This unlocks access to the Harbormaster. Talk to the Harbormaster, tab over to "Appearance" in the upgrade menu, and swap out your sails and figureheads. After wrapping up that same mission, you also unlock the captain's cabin right under the ship's wheel. This lets you swap cosmetics directly from your own quarters. If you plan on tracking down the best hull upgrades to match your new sails, you might want to grab a few buried treasure blueprints while you are out on the water.
The Full Loot Table
Here is exactly what you get for dropping the extra coin on the deluxe and preorder tiers.
You snag the Blackbeard's Crimson Pack for preordering, while the Deluxe Edition hands over the Master Assassin Naval and Character pack. Some of these actually carry solid gameplay perks.
