Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Guide: Every Buried Treasure Location

Before you waste an entire evening sailing in circles trying to decipher a vague charcoal sketch, I did the grunt work and tracked down every single dig spot.

I love the thrill of unearthing a buried chest full of gold as much as the next pirate, but the upgraded Caribbean in this remake shook things up. The developers actually moved island boundaries and altered the clues, meaning your old muscle memory is useless here.

You also can’t just cheat the system. Before you sail to these exact coordinates and start digging up the sand like a maniac, you need to know the game physically requires you to hold the corresponding map in your inventory first. No map means no chest prompt. I mapped out all 22 locations, including where to find the dead guy holding the clue and where the actual loot is buried.

Early Game Locations

Grab these the second you get control of the Jackdaw. They fund your early upgrades and keep you from getting immediately sunk by high level bounty hunters.

Cape Bonavista

Map Coordinates: (160, 580)

Chest Coordinates: (146, 587) You can’t get this immediately. Wait until the main story lets you sail freely, then fast travel back to the northern viewpoint. Head into the mountains to grab the map from a skeleton near a Mayan stone. The actual chest is buried back on the southern beach where you started the game, tucked deep inside a cave on the right. You get 1,500 Reales for your trouble.

Havana

Map Coordinates: (218, 571)

Chest Coordinates: (213, 564)

Find the dead guy in the dried river near the church to snatch the map. Take a quick run along the fort exterior wall to the southwest. The gold is waiting at the base of the final tower near a collapsed palm tree. This nets you the Queen Anne's Figurehead and 3,000 Reales.

Abaco Island and Salt Lagoon

Chest Coordinates: (719, 607)

This one makes you travel a bit. Rip the map off a skeleton on the southern beach of Abaco Island. Then set sail for Salt Lagoon in the north. Look for the massive rock on the northwest beach and dig at the base for the Serpent Figurehead and 3,000 Reales.

Andreas Island and Abaco

Map Coordinates: (543, 694)

Chest Coordinates: (586, 811)

Snag the map off the southern coast of Andreas Island while you are busy doing the main story quests with Kidd. Then head back to Abaco Island and look for a semi-submerged shipwreck on the northeast shore. Dig in the grass nearby for the Earth Monster Relief and 2,500 Reales.

Mid-Game Blueprints

Once the map opens up, you need to start hunting down specific storage and armor upgrades. These maps are mostly scattered across the central islands.

New Bone

Map Coordinates: (722, 607)

Chest Coordinates: (407, 94)

The skeleton holding this clue is rotting on the northeastern edge of Salt Lagoon. Take the map down to the New Bone settlement. Look to your right when you hit the docks and check the tiny island behind a dinghy to unearth the Maize Deity and 3,000 Reales.

Mariguana Island to Andreas Island

Chest Coordinates: (544, 693)

Walk into the central cave system on Mariguana Island and squeeze behind the flowery vines to find this map. Sail to the tiny sandbank just off the southern coast of Andreas Island. Dig behind the two palm trees to grab the Harpoon Strength ultimate plan and 3,000 Reales.

Great Inagua to Nassau

Map Coordinates: (813, 447)

Chest Coordinates: (586, 755)

After clearing out Great Inagua for the story, climb the cliffs west of the docks to find a hidden cave. Take the map to Nassau and check the swampy ground southwest of the white manor house. Dig under the overhanging rock to claim the Elite Sails design and 3,000 Reales.

Tortuga to Matanzas

Chest Coordinates: (312, 617)

Check the northeastern coast of Tortuga to find a skeleton jammed between a slanted palm tree and a rowboat. Take that map to Matanzas, walk past the guards toward the Mayan puzzle, and dig behind the roaring waterfall on the left to get the Mortar Storage ultimate plan and 3,000 Reales.

Cumberland Bay to Pinos Isle

Chest Coordinates: (304, 455)

Grab the map from a small sandbank near a rowboat on the southern coast of Cumberland Bay. The actual loot is on Pinos Isle. Dig directly northeast of the massive Mayan temple ruins to secure the Ivory Wheel design and 3,000 Reales.

Pinos Isle to Cayman Sound

This map is sitting in the heavily guarded northern fortress on Pinos Isle right next to a broken pillar. Fight through the guards and then sail south to Cayman Sound. Dig in a small clearing between the palm trees on the northeast beach for 4,000 Reales.

Late-Game and Smuggler Dens

These chests are locked behind diving bell progression, heavy enemy presence, and late-game story unlocks. Do yourself a favor and grab these while you are already doing the missions in the area.

Cayman Sound to Petite Caverne

Chest Coordinates: (863, 235)

Find the map next to an old crate on the northwest beach of Cayman Sound. The chest is deep inside the Petite Caverne smuggler den. Fight through the main cavern, take the southwest exit, and dig near the dripstone structure on your right for the Heavy Shot Storage ultimate plan and 3,000 Reales.

Petite Caverne to Tulum

Head to the very back of the Petite Caverne camp to find this map resting behind a blue chest. Take it to the far west edge of the world map in Tulum. Go to the southernmost beach past the shipwreck and dig near the watchtower to score the Fire Barrel Storage ultimate plan and 3,000 Reales.

Nassau to Isla Providencia

Chest Coordinates: (487, 11)

Loot the southern warehouse in Nassau to secure the map. You have to wait until Isla Providencia unlocks during the campaign to actually use it. Walk toward the three palm trees near the shipwrecks on the southern beach to find the dig prompt. You walk away with the Governor Outfit and 2,000 Reales.

Havana to Anotto Bay

Rob the warehouse in the northwest corner of Havana. You then have to swim through the underwater mine shafts of Anotto Bay. The chest is sitting right below the wooden platform where the enemies are talking. Grab the Crimson Cloak outfit and 2,400 Reales here.

Misteriosa to Kingston

Climb halfway up the massive Mayan temple in Misteriosa to grab the map off a stone ledge. Sail to the southeastern beach of Kingston and dig in the sand right behind a broken dinghy to get the Gilded Hull design and 3,000 Reales.

Santanillas to San Juan

Chest Coordinates: (455, 462)

Scale the trees on the eastern edge of Santanillas to find a map corpse near a Mayan monument. Dive past the jellyfish into the underwater tunnels of San Juan. The dig spot is next to the first two guards you encounter before dropping into the main camp. It holds the Fire Barrel Strength ultimate plan and 3,000 Reales.

Ile a Vache to Jiguey

Grab the map sitting in plain sight to the right of the harbor master on Ile a Vache. The chest is hidden inside the Jiguey smuggler cove, buried on the right side of the beach near an overturned boat. Dig it up for a Baroque Guitar and 2,500 Reales.

Kingston to Cumberland Bay

Raid the southernmost warehouse near the Kingston docks for the map. Check the northern shoreline of Cumberland Bay past the main viewpoint. Dig next to a stranded rowboat for a clean 4,000 Reales.

Port Royal to Principe

Map Coordinates: (605, 132)

Chest Coordinates: (113, 11)

Search the graveyard on the eastern edge of Port Royal. Principe is locked behind late-game missions. Once there, head to the far southern point of the eastern beach near the docks. Check under a palm tree for the Standard Bearer art and 2,500 Reales.

Corozal to Ambergris Key

Snatch the map next to a campfire on the northeastern beach of Corozal. The treasure is inside Ambergris Key in a small stone alcove on your left right after you finish the underwater swim. This gets you the Pirate Captain outfit and 2,000 Reales.

Ambergris Key to Misteriosa

Chest Coordinates: (271, 178)

This map is directly above the locked chest inside Ambergris Key. Take it to Misteriosa and check the thick patch of grass to the left of the fountain behind the main viewpoint. Dig up the Heavy Shot Strength ultimate plan and 3,000 Reales.

Isla Providencia to Long Bay

Chest Coordinates: (503, 230)

Follow the sandy trail moving south up the ridge from the main fast travel point on Isla Providencia. The final chest is buried on the eastern beach of Long Bay, just south of the three wooden huts. Grab the Scottish Broadswords and you are officially done.
