Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 Guide: Tracking Down the Burnt Peanut Sprite

Hunting down a secret Battle Pass cosmetic is miserable when the item you need is not even active on the live servers yet.

If you are wondering why nobody in your lobby is running around with The Burnt Peanut, you are definitely not alone. People are actively tearing their hair out on social media trying to figure out if this companion even exists. It acts as a secret extension of the Battle Pass. You cannot just grind quests or throw V-Bucks at the Item Shop to get it. The Burnt Peanut is the only companion in the game based on a real person, and unlocking him requires you to brave the harsh random number generator of Battle Royale. Before you waste three hours looting every single grey container you see, you need to know exactly how and when this item actually drops.

The Waiting Game and Drop Rates

Unlike most other companions in the game, the Burnt Peanut has absolutely no fixed spawn location. You cannot just memorize a drop spot and claim your prize. To make matters worse, you literally cannot find it right now.

As spotted by reliable leakers like Leaky on X, the item sits behind a strict 1.5 percent drop chance. Statistically speaking, that means you need to open roughly 67 valid chests before you see one pop out. The catch is that standard chests are completely useless here. Based on datamined files from HYPEX, you can only pull this item from two specific sources. Your primary target must be Sprite Chests. The second source is Relic Chests, which are the blue containers that usually spit out premium items.

However, Relic Chests are currently vaulted. Epic is scheduled to drop them back into the game in an upcoming update, most likely the patch hitting around June 25. Until that specific update goes live, do not drive yourself crazy looking for it. Once the patch drops, you can speed up your search by using my Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 vault locations guide to find secure bunkers loaded with premium chests.

The Burnt Peanut Loot Scaling

If you actually manage to beat the odds and pull this companion when it releases, it completely changes how you approach combat. While a Fire or Water companion actively helps you survive a shootout, the Burnt Peanut only rewards you after you win.

Every time you eliminate an opponent, this companion gives you a flat percentage chance to spawn bonus high tier loot right on the spot. If you play aggressively and push every gunshot you hear, this ability snowballs your loadout into an unstoppable force. Leveling up your companion pushes that drop percentage incredibly high.

Sprite Level Bonus Loot Modifier
Level 1 (Base) +20% loot chance upon elimination.
Level 2 +30% loot chance upon elimination.
Level 3 +40% loot chance upon elimination.
Level 4 +50% loot chance upon elimination.
Level 5 (Max) +60% loot chance and an extra +10% chance to drop Mythic items.

If you want to farm Master levels and max out this passive ability quickly, you should align your grind with the weekly server boosts. Read my Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 Mastery Monday guide to see exactly when Epic doubles your companion XP rate.

Extracting and Unlocking The Guardian Style

Finding the rarest companion on the island means absolutely nothing if a sniper sends you back to the lobby five seconds later.

If you die while carrying an unextracted Burnt Peanut, you lose it permanently for that session. It does not automatically transfer to your menu. The moment you see this item pop out of a chest, your only priority is locating an Extraction Site. Lock it into the terminal, survive the timer, and bank it safely. If you need some extra muscle to keep enemies away from the extraction pad, check out my Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 NPC locations guide to hire a specialist bodyguard.

Once you pull off a successful extraction, you can comfortably drop out of the match. Head straight to the Passes tab in the main menu. You will see an alert confirming that you officially unlocked the Burnt Peanut pilot edit style for The Guardian outfit in your locker. Now you can actually equip it, drop back in, and flex on everyone who is still opening standard chests hoping for a miracle.
