Hytale Fast Travel: Building Portals Without Losing Your Mind
If you are still walking everywhere in Hytale, you are either a masochist or you just haven't realized that the Arcanist’s Workbench is your new best friend.
The maps in Orbis are gargantuan. It is all fun and games until you realize your favorite mining spot is a ten-minute trek from your base, and half of that walk is spent dodging things that want to turn you into a puddle. Teleporters are the obvious solution, but Hytale doesn't just hand them to you. You have to earn the right to bend space-time, and even then, the game puts a leash on how many portals you can actually place. I have spent the last few days grinding out the materials and hunting down "Memories" to figure out the most efficient way to link the world together. If you want to stop trekking and start warping, you need to fix your workbench and start talking to a statue in a temple.
The Crafting Foundation
You cannot just slap a few stones together and hope for a wormhole. Before you even see the recipe for a teleporter, you need to turn your basic crafting area into a magical hub.
Upgrading to the Arcanist’s Workbench
First, you need to upgrade your standard Builder’s Workbench to Tier 2. This requires 30 Copper Ingots, 20 Iron Ingots, and 20 Linen Scraps. Once that is done, you can finally craft the Arcanist’s Workbench. This is where the real magic happens, but it will cost you 10 Thorium Ingots, 30 Linen Scraps, and 20 Essence of the Void. Pro tip: hunt the void creatures at night for the essence, but try not to get jumped by a pack of them in the dark.
Breaking the Teleporter Limit
The most annoying part of Hytale’s fast travel is the arbitrary cap. You can craft a hundred portals, but the game will only let you place a handful until you prove you are an "explorer." This is handled through the Memory system.
Unlocking the Forgotten Temple
Look for a white vortex icon or a cross-shaped building on your map. This is the Forgotten Temple. Inside, you will find the Heart of Orbis. Interact with it to unlock the ability to collect Memories. Once unlocked, any time you see a new creature, you get a blue notification. You don't even have to kill them; you just have to look at them.
The Milestone Grind
To increase your portal capacity, you have to bring those collected Memories back to the Heart of Orbis and "restore" them. It is a bit of a trek, so I suggest placing your first teleporter right outside the temple doors.
25 Memories: Increases your limit to 3 teleporters.
50 Memories: Increases your limit to 4 teleporters.
100 Memories: Increases your limit to 6 teleporters.
200 Memories: Increases your limit to 8 teleporters.
How to Use Your Network
Once you have your portals placed, interacting with them opens the "Target Warp" menu. You can name each portal (e.g., "Main Base," "Mining Pit," "Temple") so you don't get lost. The system is many-to-many, meaning one portal can theoretically link to any other portal in your network. Just make sure you actually set a destination before you jump in, or you will just be standing in a glowing archway looking like an idiot.
