Sony's Marvel's Wolverine PS5 Looks Great. You Might Not Need to Buy the Whole Thing.
Sony just revealed the full Marvel's Wolverine PS5 lineup, and the bundle isn't actually the only way in if you already own a console.
The headline piece is a PS5 Digital Edition finished in Battle Yellow, styled after Insomniac's Battle Reborn suit, with claw marks cut into the shell and a matching DualSense that mirrors the slashes across the controller face. It ships with a code for the game itself, launching September 15. Scottish illustrator Jock, who did key art for the game, worked directly on the design, carrying his traditional hand-inked style onto the hardware. "I wanted to show Wolverine at his fiercest," he said of the project. Insomniac's Marcus Smith credited the result for staying "grounded and raw." It's a genuinely sharp-looking special edition, one of the better ones Sony's put out in a while.
The Part Worth Knowing: You Don't Need the Bundle
Here's the actually useful detail sitting a few paragraphs into Sony's announcement. If you already own a PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro, you don't have to buy a second console to get the look, which works out well for me personally. I like this design a lot, but I was never going to sell a perfectly fine PS5 just to own a yellow one. Sony's selling standalone console covers in the same Battle Yellow design, plus a second metallic Adamantium finish exclusive to PS5 Pro, and matching DualSense controllers sold separately from either bundle. Covers fit both disc and disc-less PS5 models. If the only thing holding you back from the full bundle is that exact hesitation, the covers are built for exactly that.
How and When to Actually Buy One
Pre-orders open August 19 at 10am local time through direct.playstation.com, though that site only sells directly in the US, UK, and nine countries across Western Europe. Everywhere else, it's limited retailer stock, and Sony's own wording leans on "limited" pretty heavily across the board, bundle included. Everything ships starting September 15, the same day Marvel's Wolverine itself launches.
