Rideshare "Stimulator's" Former Lead Writer Says She Was Replaced by ChatGPT

Stella Sacco found out about Saber Interactive's new driving game the same way everyone else did, and she was its lead writer for most of a year.

We covered the leak on this one a couple weeks back, back when it was still just a rumor with a funny name attached to it. The official reveal landed July 30 as Rideshare "Stimulator," made by UNIGINE for Saber, set in a city called Ottoberg. Sacco posted about all of this on Bluesky yesterday. She was lead writer on the game for most of a year. She says Saber replaced her with ChatGPT partway through development. And she says every passenger voice line in the finished game is AI too.

This Isn't a New Claim

What makes this worth taking seriously, instead of writing it off as an ex-employee venting, is that Sacco isn't saying this for the first time now that the game's out. She's got a screenshot of a Facebook post from December 21, 2023, more than two years before Rideshare "Stimulator" was even announced, where she already wrote that she'd been replaced on one of her games at work, with ChatGPT. Her LinkedIn backs up the timeline too, lead writer at Saber from July 2023 to July 2024, credited on Stuntman Hollywood and other titles in the portfolio. She's careful not to oversell what she actually knows, saying herself the team could have gone a different direction after she left.

The Disclosure Problem

Valve requires games to disclose generative AI on the Steam page when that AI-made content ships and reaches players, not just AI tools used somewhere internally during development. Rideshare "Stimulator" doesn't have that disclosure anywhere on its store page right now. If Sacco's telling it straight, this is sitting on exactly the kind of undisclosed AI use Valve's own policy is supposed to catch.

Where This Leaves the Game

Saber hasn't said anything about any of this yet. The original leak had me interested, quirky passengers, an actual driving sim hiding under a joke title, exactly the kind of weird niche Saber's usually good at. This story is what's actually killing that interest for me: picturing someone who spent most of a year writing dialogue for this game, with the store page right now acting like she never existed. Rideshare "Stimulator" is still set for later this year on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. I'd like to see Saber actually respond before then.
