RV There Yet 100% Achievement Guide: Surviving The Jank
Earning every Steam achievement in this physics nightmare will absolutely test your patience, but I have already done the heavy lifting for you.
If you read my RV There Yet Co-op Review, you already know exactly what kind of chaotic nightmare this game can be. You are fighting the physics engine just as much as you are fighting the environment. Dragging a busted recreational vehicle across treacherous gaps and literal minefields is a fantastic test of patience. Going out of your way to 100% the game requires a very specific brand of masochism.
I spent entirely too much time figuring out the exact quirks required to pop every single trophy in Mabutts Valley and the icy hellscape of Mt. Yurbuttsk. A lot of these achievements are tied to simple progression. You will get the checkpoint achievements just by surviving and reaching the credits in both campaigns. If you are struggling with the basics of keeping your rig moving, I highly recommend checking out my Beginner Guide before you worry about completionist tasks.
For the rest of the list, you are going to need a solid crew, a lot of spare scrap, and a high tolerance for failure.
Mabutts Valley: General and Hidden Achievements
The base campaign is where you will learn to hate the winch mechanic. Before we get into the collectibles, let us look at the miscellaneous tasks. Some of these are massive grinds, while others require you to do incredibly stupid things with high explosives.
If you want a smoother ride through this valley, take a detour and read my 10 Tips and Tricks for Survival guide. You will need those strategies when attempting the harder hidden objectives.
Mabutts Valley: Cassettes and Cosmetics
Hunting down every tape and cosmetic item is where the real pain begins. You are looking at scouring some highly unstable terrain. I highly suggest clearing the immediate area of threats before you go wandering off the beaten path.
The Audio Logs (Absolute Calm Achievement)
You need all the tapes. Most are sitting out in the open, but a few require you to actually look around the dusty ruins.
Checkpoint 0 to 2: Grab the tape on the starting camp table. Check the gas station at Checkpoint 1. Between 1 and 2, climb the large rock. At Checkpoint 2, check the picnic table near the garage, the top of Turd Rock, and the right side of the bridge jump.
Checkpoint 3 to 10: Snag the Austin Lesson inside the Checkpoint 3 gas station. Between 3 and 4, check the house and underneath the parkour section. Checkpoint 4 has one in the garage. Past Checkpoint 5, look under the burning bridge. Checkpoints 8 and 10 both have tapes inside their respective garages.
Checkpoint 11 to 15: Between 10 and 11, check the large rock (The one without trees on top). Checkpoint 12 has two tapes in the garage area (One inside one on top). Checkpoint 13 has another in the garage. While rock climbing between 13 and 14, grab the tape on the ledge. The final two are at Checkpoint 14's gas station and inside the house at Checkpoint 15 where you find Austin's skeleton.
The Cosmetics (Should have been microtransactions)
Finding the cosmetics requires a bit more platforming and puzzle solving with the winch.
Early Game: Check the island by the starting camp. Between 0 and 1, look inside the house on the right. Between 1 and 2, you have to use the winch to physically break the rock to reveal the cosmetic.
Mid Game: At Checkpoint 2, check both underneath and on top of Turd Rock. (good luck it’s…a climb to say the least) Before the bridge jump, look to the right. Between 3 and 4, search the left side of the minefield. Checkpoint 7 hides two items: one in the garage and one in the adjacent house.
Late Game: Past the lava jump after Checkpoint 7, check the nook on the right. After Checkpoint 8, drop down and search under the rocks. Above Checkpoint 9, scale the platforms to find a hat above the gas station, and grab another item midway up the large hole.
Mt. Yurbuttsk: General and Hidden Achievements
Welcome to the snow. The physics somehow feel even more punishing on ice. Mt. Yurbuttsk introduces a few new mechanics like tractor tubes, snowballs, and highly volatile nitroglycerin. You will also have to deal with wildlife, which is exactly as annoying as it sounds.
Mt. Yurbuttsk: Cassettes and Cosmetics
The winter map is slightly less convoluted than the valley, but the blinding snow makes spotting these tiny items an absolute chore. Take your time and keep your eyes peeled.
The Winter Tapes (Divine Resonance Achievement)
Following Tom's descent into madness is honestly the best part of the audio logs in this game.
Checkpoint 0 to 4: Grab the tape on the picnic table by the RV. Down the hill, check the house on the right. Inside the gas station at Checkpoint 1 is your first Tom tape. Checkpoint 2 has one in the garage. On the island in the middle of the frozen lake (between 2 and 3), grab another tape. Checkpoint 3 has one at the gas station. Next to the broken gondola between 3 and 4 is another tape (Beside the Chasm Crossing), and Checkpoint 4 has one in the garage.
Checkpoint 5 to 11: Check the scaffolding right of the gas station between 5 and 6. Checkpoint 6 has one near the gas pump. Look behind the guard post between 6 and 7. Checkpoint 7 has a tape inside the gas station. Checkpoint 9 has two tapes near and inside the gas pump building (one inside and one next to the pump). Grab the tape on the third rock in the frozen lake between 9 and 10. Checkpoint 10 holds two more near the pump and inside the house. The final tape is inside the crystal cave near a backpack, right before Checkpoint 11.
Frostbitten Cosmetics (Should we add lootboxes?)
You are looking for tiny items buried in a massive white landscape. Good luck.
The Starting Area: Check the top of the frozen pond right at the start. Look on top of the hill behind the RV. Check inside the broken gondola and the shack past it. Head down the hill and search the house on the right. Finally, check up the hill by the signs and underneath the very first bridge.
The Mid Climb: At Checkpoint 3, check the top of the tombstone. Between 3 and 4, look on top of the parkour platform near the welder, and then drop down to the bottom of the pit. Checkpoint 4 has another item on a tombstone. Look under the broken geyser bridge between 4 and 5. Checkpoint 5 has two items sitting on the scaffolding to the right.
The Final Stretch: Between Checkpoint 6 and 7, check behind the large ice wall and inside the bunker building. Checkpoint 7 has one outside the gas station. Your final cosmetic is hidden inside the tunnel with the heavy steel door between Checkpoint 7 and 8.
Some special credit to Kink on steam, his guide helped with 2/3 missing cosmetics on both maps! ^^
