Subnautica 2 Guide: How to Heal and Craft First Aid Kits
Exploring the ocean floor with a nearly empty health bar is a fantastic way to cut your expedition short.
You start your journey on Proteus with exactly 100 health points, and the environment is constantly trying to chip away at that number. Letting your food or water meter tick into the red drains your health by four points per tick. Extreme heat and hostile wildlife will drop your health even faster. If a Leviathan catches you, healing doesn't matter because they swallow you whole for an instant game over. Keeping your vitals topped off is the only way to survive the deep.
Relying on Natural Health Regeneration
Before you start burning through your valuable medical supplies, you should lean on your body's natural recovery systems.
If you keep your food and water meters full, your health automatically regenerates over time. I heavily recommend using this passive method when you are exploring safe areas or organizing your base. Don't rely on natural healing during a fight, as the regeneration is far too slow to save you from aggressive wildlife. If you are struggling to keep those meters high, I wrote a complete Subnautica 2 Food and Water Guide to help you get your diet under control.
Finding Medical Gel Sacs in the Wild
When passive healing is too slow, you need to forage for immediate relief in the shallows.
You're looking for Acidic Raions. These are the pink, brain-looking plants scattered around the early biomes. If you pull out your Survival Multitool and hit the sides of the plant, you'll harvest Acidic Raion Pouches. Don't ignore the glowing green stem sitting right in the middle of the plant. Grab that stem to acquire a Medical Gel Sac.
Eating a raw Medical Gel Sac instantly restores 10 health. It's a great emergency snack if you take a random hit while swimming back to your Lifepod.

Crafting First Aid Kits
The raw gel sacs are great for minor scrapes, but serious damage requires proper medical gear.
You can occasionally find prepackaged First Aid Kits sitting inside supply crates near wreckage or abandoned bases. You can't rely on random loot drops forever, so you need to craft your own. There is a catch to this process. The corrupted Fabricator inside your starting Lifepod cannot craft First Aid Kits. You're completely locked out of medical crafting until you construct a custom base with a fully functional Fabricator. Once you build your own crafting station, you can start combining raw materials into potent healing items. You can also unlock an alternative recipe later on using the Processor machine.
