007 First Light Guide: A New Home Challenges Explained
Getting through MI6 boot camp is significantly easier when you know exactly who to punch and who to completely ignore.
The second major mission drops you into Malta for some advanced training exercises alongside your fellow recruits Monroe and Cressida. The mission features a massive list of 12 optional challenges. Because several of these objectives completely contradict each other, you're going to have to replay the mission checkpoints a few times to scrub the board clean. Before you run blindly into a heavily fortified compound and ruin your stealth run, I broke down every single requirement so you can earn the Malta Training Outfit efficiently.
The Full Challenge List
If you're just looking for a quick checklist to see what you're missing, here are all the objectives tied to this chapter.
The Apartment and Polygraph Challenges
You can knock out a couple of easy wins during the narrative downtime between combat exercises. These require zero stealth skills, just a bit of attention.
Acing Mr Mnemonic
When the mission starts, you find yourself inside your new apartment with Cressida and Monroe. Walk over to your bed and place your bag down to trigger the next sequence. Follow Monroe around until he hacks a TV and asks if you want to play a memory game. He shows you a grid of symbols. You only need to memorize the bottom two corners. When the prompt appears, confidently tell him the answer is "Umbrella and Crown" to clear this challenge instantly.
Spinning A Yarn
Later in the mission, a cutscene triggers where Bond is strapped to a polygraph machine for a lie detector test with Greenway. Before you try to answer honestly to be a good employee, remember you're playing a spy game. Lying is basically your entire job description. You get three dialogue prompts during the interrogation. Simply select the "Lie" option all three times to grab this easy challenge.
In At The Deep End
The first actual combat exercise requires you to capture a flag. You need to play this section twice to get both the stealth and the assault challenges knocked out. If you're wondering how far this chapter puts you in the overall story, take a look at my 007 First Light how long to beat chapter list.
Something To Prove and Cressida's Way
For the stealth run, you have to reach the flag without taking down a single soldier and without being spotted. You could sneak past every guard normally, but there's a massive shortcut that completely breaks the course.
Head down toward the starting gate. Wait for Bond to say he's "in position" to trigger the objective. Now, turn completely around and walk back the way you came. Head up the left stairs and walk right past the civilian spectators. Keep an eye on your left for a section of railing. Wait for the patrolling guard on the other side to look away, vault over the railing, and climb the ladder directly in front of you. This skips the entire combat arena and drops you right next to the flag, earning you both challenges in under two minutes.
Monroe's Way
Load the checkpoint and do the exact opposite. You need to hunt down and incapacitate all 25 soldiers in the area before you touch the flag. Don't try to be quiet here. If the enemies call for reinforcements, that just gives you more bodies to punch. Use your Q-Lens constantly to track them through the walls so nobody hides from you. Once the area is completely empty, grab the flag. If your timing is sloppy during these massive brawls, brush up with my 007 First Light parry and combat guide.
Search The Compound
The second flag capture happens at night in a heavily guarded compound. Again, you'll need two separate runs here to satisfy both playstyles.
White Flag and Always Do The Unexpected
Your goal is to reach the blue door holding the flag without triggering an alert or knocking anyone out. The moment you use your bluff mechanic on the first guard, head down the ledge on your left. Hug that left wall tightly and drop down again into the tall grass.
Creep up the stairs and look for a gap in the wall on your left. Slip through, take another left to hit the balcony, and climb the blue pipe all the way to the top. From this upper ledge, walk left until you hit the balcony again, then vault through the open window. Walk across the room and vault through the next window on your right. Head up the stairs, use your Q-Watch to hack the radio to distract the three guards blocking your path, and sprint to the blue door to grab your flag.
Party Crasher
Reload the checkpoint. You now need to neutralize 30 guards before touching the flag. Before you run wildly through the courtyard, remember that some guards are hiding below ground. Grab the compound keys during your rampage and make sure you completely clear out the basement area, otherwise the challenge won't pop. Wait for the notification to appear on your screen before you open the final blue door.
Unlocking the Meta Challenges
You don't actually have to do anything extra to unlock the Ghost, Pacifist, and Assault challenges. The game automatically awards them to you once you complete the matching pair of challenges from the two flag sequences. Once all 11 boxes are checked off, the Completionist challenge pops, and the Malta Training Outfit is yours.
