Invincible VS Guide: How to Unlock Every Costume and Color Palette
Before you waste hours wondering why your roster looks identical to your opponent's lineup, you need to understand the character mastery system to unlock every hidden color palette.
I quickly realized that flexing on your opponent is half the fun in a brutal tag fighter. You start with a very limited closet in Invincible VS. Each of the 18 characters only has access to their default look and a secondary color intended to prevent confusion during mirror matches. The game locks the really impressive visual upgrades behind a massive experience grind. You are going to have to commit to your chosen trio if you want to see them wearing the high tier cosmetics. The final two unlocks for each fighter actually completely overhaul their visual effects rather than simply swapping the fabric colors.
Climbing the Mastery Ranks
You cannot buy your way to a better wardrobe. You have to earn these cosmetics by sinking time into the Character Mastery system.
The progression track is completely identical for every single fighter on the roster. You will earn a new color variant every five levels. The initial three unlocks are standard recolors of the base outfit. The real prizes are waiting at the end of the track. The Cosmic outfit unlocks at level 20, and the Distortion outfit unlocks at level 23. These final two acts act as entirely unique costumes featuring special visual effects.
Efficient Experience Farming
You need a solid game plan to hit level 23, or you will be grinding for weeks.
Building a Dedicated Team
The most important thing to know is that all three characters on your active roster receive the exact same amount of XP after a match. I strongly advise picking a trio you enjoy playing and refusing to swap them out until they are completely maxed. Swapping your roster around constantly dilutes your experience gains and makes unlocking those high tier skins take an eternity. Offline vs Online Grinding
If you prefer to fight the AI, the Quick Arcade Ladder on Easy difficulty is your best option. A completed Arcade match pays out a flat 1,500 XP. I managed to push multiple characters to level 20 strictly through Arcade runs, and it took roughly only four/five hours of continuous play per character.
However, taking your skills to the internet is objectively faster. Online matches reward you with over 1,800 XP per bout. If you combine natural online play with your dedicated trio, you will tear through those levels and unlock the Distortion outfits much faster. Stand your ground in the online lobbies and the cosmetics will follow.
