Invincible VS Tier List: The Ultimate Character Rankings
Before you waste three hours getting absolutely stomped in ranked lobbies, you need to know which fighters are actually worth your time.
I learned the hard way that jumping into a 3v3 tag fighter with a squad of bottom tier characters will just get you sent back to the lobby in pieces. Invincible VS offers an incredible roster of 18 heroes and villains right out of the gate. The problem is that not all of these superpowered combatants are built equally. Some possess raw damage that can melt a health bar in seconds. Others have stilted animations that leave them completely exposed to devastating aerial combos. Because this is a team based game, you have to build a trio that covers each other's weaknesses. If you bring three slow moving tanks into the arena, a dedicated zoner will pick you apart from across the screen. I spent countless hours testing every single character to figure out exactly who dominates the current meta.
The Complete Launch Meta
Here is my definitive ranking of every fighter available at launch based on their damage output, mobility, and overall utility in a tag team format.
S-Tier: The Absolute Meta Kings
These three characters dictate the pace of the game. If you do not have at least one of them on your roster, you are putting yourself at a massive disadvantage.
Omni-Man and Battle Beast
Omni-Man is the undisputed king of the roster right now. He provides the perfect middle ground between high mobility and absolutely terrifying damage. He is remarkably easy to pick up but has enough depth in his combo strings to reward dedication. You will see him on almost every competitive team. Battle Beast is equally terrifying. He moves a bit slower than the Viltrumites, but his raw damage output is the highest in the game. He can close the distance surprisingly fast and trap you in an aerial combo that will put you six feet under before you can even attempt a tag breaker.
Dupli-Kate
Dupli-Kate provides the speed option for the S-Tier bracket. Her combo potential is genuinely absurd. She relies on overwhelming your defenses with constant mix ups that keep you guessing where the next strike will land. She rewards a highly aggressive playstyle. If you master her inputs, you can decimate an opposing team before they even have a chance to counterattack.
A-Tier: Exceptional Alternatives
These fighters are incredibly strong and can easily hold their own against the top tier picks if you understand their unique mechanics.
Conquest and Invincible
Conquest sits right on the border of S-Tier. He is fast, brutal, and plays very similarly to Omni-Man. The only reason he drops down a rank is because Omni-Man and Battle Beast simply do his job slightly better. Invincible is your reliable all around brawler. He is the absolute best character for beginners to learn the fundamentals of the game. He closes gaps effortlessly and lands consistent, reliable combos without requiring insane mechanical execution.
Atom Eve and Thula
Atom Eve is the premier zoner of Invincible VS. She struggles heavily if an opponent gets right in her face, but her ranged attacks are incredibly oppressive. She can hover in the air and juggle you with projectiles indefinitely. You must pair her with strong close range brawlers to cover her weaknesses. Thula is a sleeper pick with massive potential. Her kit allows you to pull opponents in with a medium attack and immediately launch them into the air. If you memorize her attack flow, you can trap people in endless loops.
Allen the Alien, Lucan, and Anissa
Allen the Alien takes up a massive amount of screen space and maintains excellent pressure. He utilizes grapples and heavy aerial hits to bully opponents into the corner. Lucan is a powerhouse who looks slow but hits deceptively fast. His grapple attacks chunk health bars effortlessly. Anissa requires a bit more investment to feel good. Her special attacks have a very high skill ceiling, and her dodge mechanic is tough to master. Once it clicks, her speed makes her a highly dangerous gap closer.
B-Tier and C-Tier: Niche Picks and Walking Targets
These characters are not inherently broken, but they lack the overwhelming advantages found higher up on the list. You have to work twice as hard to secure a victory with them.
Reliable Specialists
Rex Splode feels great to control on the ground. He mixes close combat with ranged explosives beautifully, but he becomes incredibly vulnerable the moment he jumps into the air. Ella Mental is a completely original character created for the game. She relies on elemental fireballs and water missiles to control the pace of the match. Bulletproof is a very standard, basic fighter who lacks the flair of the A-Tier brawlers. Monster Girl is a durable front line tank. She moves at a snail's pace but compensates with heavy attacks that hit like a freight train.
The Heavy Tanks and Oddballs
Cecil is a ranged specialist with teleportation abilities. He can be an absolute nightmare to fight if the person holding the controller is a master, but his learning curve is far too steep for the average person. Titan is a massive target. He relies entirely on close range brawling, but his slow movement speed means he usually gets caught in an enemy combo before he can ever land a punch. Powerplex is incredibly forgettable. He needs to be at close range for his best moves, but his kit lacks any defining characteristics to make him stand out.
D-Tier: The Scrap Heap
There is only one character at the very bottom of the barrel, and you should actively avoid using him.
Robot
Robot is a complete liability. His moveset constantly pushes him too far away from the action to capitalize on combos, and his general movement feels clunky and stilted. He is the only character on the roster classified as balanced in both attack and defense. In a fighting game, being a jack of all trades usually means you are a master of none. He lacks the specialization needed to compete with the heavy hitters and speed demons. Leave him in the hangar.
Building Your Ultimate 3v3 Team
A character who looks mediocre on their own can become an unstoppable force if you pair them with the right teammates. You have to think about synergy.
If you want the easiest path to victory, run Omni-Man, Battle Beast, and Dupli-Kate together. This specific trio covers speed, raw power, and mix up potential perfectly. If you prefer a more tactical approach, put Atom Eve on your roster to handle zoning, and use Conquest and Omni-Man to protect her at close range. Never build a team entirely out of close range brawlers, or a single good zoner will pick you apart.
I highly advise taking your chosen trio into the Arcade ladders before jumping into competitive matchmaking. This allows you to practice your tags and assist breakers in a stress free environment. While you grind out those matches, you can easily knock out the requirements I listed in my Invincible VS achievement and trophy guide. Committing to a single team will also funnel massive amounts of experience points into their progression tracks. You need to hit level 23 with your favorites to unlock the special cosmetic items I detailed in my Invincible VS costume and color palette guide.
