Resident Evil Requiem Boss Guide: Exterminating The Titan Spinner

Nothing drains your ammunition faster than panic-firing a shotgun at a target the size of a minivan that refuses to stop moving.

Leon S. Kennedy attacks the massive, grotesque Titan Spinner boss in Resident Evil Requiem, targeting its exposed, fleshy weak point.

Capcom has a long, miserable history of putting oversized arachnids in this franchise. When Leon S. Kennedy finally reaches the remnants of Raccoon City, the game welcomes you with a terrifying ambush. The Titan Spinner is a massive, heavily armored mutant spider that serves as your first major roadblock in this new zone.

If you walk into the NF Building expecting to just stand your ground and blast this thing to pieces, you are going to die. This fight is designed specifically to punish players who rely entirely on brute force. If your inventory is already looking grim before this fight even starts, you might want to review my Resident Evil Requiem crafting guide to make sure you are optimizing your remaining gunpowder.

I am going to break down the exact pathing required to survive the initial chase sequence and the specific tactical loop you need to finally squash this bug.

Phase 1: The Ambush and Chase

You do not actually fight the Titan Spinner the moment you see it. The encounter begins as a frantic chase sequence through a collapsing corridor.

When the cutscene ends, you will be staring at a hallway blocked by thick webs. Walk forward and use your combat hatchet to slash through the webbing. Do not waste your time staring out the window at the giant spider scurrying along the glass. It is just there to stress you out.

The spider will eventually shatter the wall and charge directly at Leon. Do not try to kill it here. Pull out your shotgun, fire one or two rounds directly into its face until it violently recoils, and immediately turn around. Sprint down the corridor. You will be hurled through a wall into a larger area, but the chase is not over. Pick yourself up, cut through the next web barricade, and push through the door to the stairs.

Dealing With The Swarm

As you climb to the higher floors, the game throws a secondary annoyance at you. You have to deal with a swarm of smaller spiderlings.

These things are weak, dying in a single handgun bullet or a hatchet swipe, but they will actively jump onto Leon's face to immobilize him and deal chip damage. Do not let them overwhelm you. A single shotgun blast will clear a massive cluster of them instantly. Kill the swarm and push toward the fire exit. Be ready to dodge laterally right before you hit the doorway, as the Titan Spinner will attempt one final ambush swipe.

Phase 2: The Arena Fight

Reaching the top floor triggers the actual boss battle. You are now trapped in an incredibly tight, multi-level arena with a monster that likes to crawl on the ceiling.

Scavenge Before You Shoot

The absolute worst thing you can do when this phase starts is pull the trigger. The Titan Spinner is covered in a thick, bulletproof carapace. Firing directly into its armor is a complete waste of your resources.

Instead, spend the first thirty seconds of the fight simply running. Familiarize yourself with the layout of the arena and grab every single item you can find. There are multiple crates scattered around containing shotgun shells and healing items. The arena is fully interconnected, featuring tight corners and flanked walls that allow you to briefly break line of sight and catch your breath.

The Fuel Tank Strategy

To actually deal damage, you have to expose the pulsating, bulbous weak point hidden beneath its armor. You do this by utilizing the environment.

There are two highly explosive fuel tanks located in the arena. One is sitting on the ground floor, and the second is tucked away on the upper level. You need to bait the Titan Spinner into chasing you near these tanks. When the spider is in range, shoot the tank. The resulting explosion deals massive damage and permanently staggers the creature.

TITAN SPINNER DAMAGE WINDOWS

You only get two guaranteed staggers. You must maximize your damage output during these brief windows.

DAMAGE PHASE WEAPON SELECTION
The First Stagger (Ground Floor Tank) Switch immediately to the Sniper Rifle. The single target damage is devastating against the exposed bulbs.
The Second Stagger (Upper Floor Tank) Dump all remaining Requiem ammo directly into the weak point. It hits harder than the sniper without the slow reload animation.
The Desperation Phase (No Tanks Left) Use the Shotgun. Keep moving, use the tight corners to create distance, and rely on the wide pellet spread to clip the weak point as it turns.

Surviving The Final Phase

If you fail to kill the Titan Spinner using the two fuel tanks, the fight gets significantly harder. You have to stay constantly on the move.

The spider will grow desperate and begin spewing thick webs directly at Leon. If this attack connects, you will be completely immobilized and forced to eat a massive follow up strike. Keep your finger ready to heal if you get caught. Since you no longer have explosive barrels to force a stagger, you have to rely on your shotgun. Keep creating distance, wait for the spider to expose its back as it navigates the tight corners, and blast the weak point.

Keep the pressure up and the Titan Spinner will eventually collapse, clearing your path deeper into the city. If you are struggling with the parry timings required for the smaller enemies in this zone, reference my Resident Evil Requiem combat guide to tighten up your defensive skills. Loot the arena, reload your weapons, and get moving.
