Retro Rewind Achievement Guide: 100% Completion on Minimum Wage

Getting every achievement in a 90s retail simulator requires the exact same dead eyed persistence I used working actual cash registers.

Video store management is not a glamorous job. You spend your days organizing plastic boxes, arguing with people about late fees, and staring at neon lights until your retinas burn. Retro Rewind captures that mundane magic perfectly, and for those of us who need a digital pat on the back, the game offers 18 achievements to hunt down.

The developers actually did something smart here. Unlocking an achievement is not just a meaningless pop up on your screen. Every single trophy you earn in this game directly injects 100 dollars and 50 XP into your current save file. In the brutal early hours of your business, when you are barely scraping by with 100 to 200 dollar profit days, those achievement bonuses are literal lifesavers. They can fund your next shelf or pay your employee wages when you are completely broke.

I have seen plenty of generic lists with only the titles floating around the internet, but I refuse to just dump a copy pasted spreadsheet in your lap. I have categorized the entire achievement list based on exactly how and when you should be tackling them. If you are still trying to figure out how to stop your employees from ruining your shelves before you start achievement hunting, you need to read my Retro Rewind Video Store Simulator Beginner Guide first.

The Developer Cheat Room Warning

Before you start grinding for a 100% completion rate, I need to issue a massive warning about your save file.

Once you hit store level 20, the game opens up a secret developer room. If you walk out the back door and head down the alley near the strange tape dealer at night, you will find an open doorway. Inside, you can access a cheat menu that lets you add infinite cash or mess with the character models.

Do not touch it if you care about your trophies. Activating any of these cheats will permanently lock your current save file out of earning any future achievements. If you want to mess around with free money, do it after you have already secured the full 100% completion.

NATURAL PROGRESSION ACHIEVEMENTS

You will get these trophies by simply clocking in, dealing with the public, and running a competent business over time.

ACHIEVEMENT NAME UNLOCK REQUIREMENT & MY NOTES
First Day Complete Complete your very first day as a business owner. Just survive until closing time and hit the end day prompt.
Good Customer Service Help 20 customers with their movie requests. You will easily hit this during your first few shifts.
Return Routine Check in 1000 movies at the return station. This sounds like a massive grind, but it counts even when your hired employees process the returns.
First Hire Hire your first employee. Unlocks naturally as you level up and realize you cannot run the register and process returns by yourself.
Fully Staffed Hire two employees. You must reach store level 20 before the game allows you to hire a second worker.
Certified Movie Buff Unlock all movie genres. You start with three categories and unlock the final genre at level 19.
Big Store Energy Unlock all store expansions. Check the blueprint poster in your back office to buy the floor space upgrades.
Business Is Booming! Generate $10,000 in total revenue. Stop spending money, simply invest as much as you can back into the shop, while doing as much flyering as you can.

THE SIDE HUSTLE & HOARDING ACHIEVEMENTS

This requires aggressive spending, filling up snack machines, and actively throwing things away.

ACHIEVEMENT NAME UNLOCK REQUIREMENT & MY NOTES
RIP Put a movie in the trash. Simple as that.
The Movie Enthusiast Own 250 movies in your inventory at one time.
The Movie Collector Own 500 movies in your inventory. You will need multiple store expansions to fit this many shelves.
The Movie Empire Own 1000 movies. This is a massive late game grind. Buy cheap bulk titles to pad your numbers.
Off The Books Order a movie using a SKU code. You are going to do this anyway to cheese the holographic achievement below. Pick up any tape, hit 'F' to inspect it, copy the SKU on the left panel, and order it through the Black Market tab on your PC.
Holographic Showcase Display 4 holographic movies in a display case. Stop bankrupting your store by ordering massive bulks of standard tapes hoping for an RNG drop. Pick up a standard movie, hit 'F' to copy its SKU code, and paste it into the Black Market tab. You can bypass the lottery and buy the limited edition directly. Mount four of them in the glass display case and collect your XP.
Game On! Buy an arcade machine. These unlock at level 18. They are expensive, but they provide a constant stream of passive income.
Brain Freeze! Sell 20 slushy drinks. Buy the machine for $50 and fulfill the specific flavor requests at the counter.
Popping Off! Sell 20 popcorn. The popcorn machine unlocks at level 8 and requires a $50 investment to fix.
Sugar Rush! Sell 20 cotton candies. The machine unlocks at level 12 and costs $50.
