007 First Light Guide: How to Unlock Every Achievement
Before you stress yourself out worrying about missing a crucial objective, know that grabbing the platinum trophy in 007 First Light is mostly just a test of your patience.
IO Interactive packed 37 total achievements into this spy thriller. The best news I can give you is that there are absolutely zero difficulty requirements and nothing is permanently missable. You can play the entire campaign on Novice if you just want to relax, and the game features a highly forgiving Chapter Select menu that lets you jump straight back into specific checkpoints to clean up whatever you missed.
You will earn exactly 18 achievements purely by finishing the story chapters. I am not going to waste your time listing all of those out because they pop automatically as you progress from the helicopter crash in Chapter 1 all the way to the finale in Chapter 17. Instead, I am going to focus entirely on the specific combat maneuvers, the online TacSim requirements, and the massive collectible hunt.
Field Work and Combat Scenarios
This is where you actually have to put some thought into your gameplay. A handful of achievements require you to pull off highly specific combat tricks in the heat of a firefight.
Positively Shocking
Before you get yourself electrocuted trying to set this up, you need to find an enemy carrying a taser. You encounter these guys heavily during the laundry section of Chapter 8. The trick here is to keep the taser guard and one other standard enemy alive. When the taser guard aims at you, a bright blue laser line appears. Hold your sprint button to grab the standard enemy and physically push him directly into that blue line just as the taser fires.
Disarming Personality
You need to shoot a weapon out of an enemy's hand using the Laser Strap gadget. You unlock this specific tool in Chapter 9, and you have to manually equip it in the Q-Lab before a mission. If you are not sure what other gear you should carry, check out my complete gadget tier list to optimize your loadout. Once equipped, intentionally get spotted by an armed guard and zap him with the laser to make him drop his gun.
Short Fuse and Damp Squib
These two achievements revolve around enemy grenades. For "Short Fuse," you have to shoot an enemy while they are actively winding up to throw a grenade. For "Damp Squib," you need to let them throw it, then quickly hack the explosive on the ground before it detonates. The absolute best place to farm both of these is the Ambush checkpoint in Chapter 10. The second you spawn, hide behind cover, hold your Q-Watch button to slow down time, and wait for a guard to pull a pin.
Soft Landing
You need to tackle an enemy over a ledge. Hold down your sprint button to grab a guard, and just keep holding it while you rush him toward a drop off. You will get a unique animation where you both plummet over the edge. You can easily farm this during the Advanced Close Combat Training in the TacSim mode.
Always Have an Exit Plan
Walk into a restricted area filled with civilians and intentionally let a guard confront you. Instead of using a standard dialogue bluff, hold your Q-Lens button and trigger a gadget to distract them and escape.
Tactical Simulations
You cannot get the platinum without diving into the online TacSim mode. You unlock this from the main menu after finishing Chapter 6.
Escalations and Operations
You get an achievement for finishing your first Escalation, and another for beating tier 3 of any Escalation track. Just load up the Advanced Tactical Training. It is literally a basic tutorial on how to fire a gun, and you can clear all three tiers in a few minutes. Operations are a bit different. These are remixed story sections that only unlock after you finish the entire main campaign. Just load up the first one and clear it for the "What if...?" achievement.
Keep Moving Forward
You need to hit Clearance Level 3 in the TacSim mode. You earn XP by finishing those Escalations and Operations I just mentioned. It should only take you about 30 to 60 minutes of grinding. Be warned that this specific achievement is currently a bit buggy. If it does not pop the second you hit Level 3, just keep playing until you hit Level 4 and it should trigger retroactively.
The Massive Collectible Hunt
You are going to spend the bulk of your cleanup time hunting down the 92 different collectibles scattered across the globe.
Finding all of them unlocks the final "A collector's habit" achievement, but each individual category also has its own specific trophy tied to it. I broke down exactly what you are looking for so you know what is left on your checklist.
If you are struggling to find the tourist memorabilia, take a look at my complete postcard location guide so you can knock that specific category out in a few minutes using the Chapter Select menu.
