Crimson Desert Strongbox Guide: Every Puzzle Solution and Location

Stop spinning those cylinders at random. Here is exactly how to crack every single safe in the game.

If you spend any time exploring the massive estates and abandoned ruins of Pywel, you are going to stumble across strongboxes. These are not your standard wooden loot chests. Strongboxes are high-tier, complex safes that contain some of the best early-to-mid-game accessories, unique weapons, and crafting recipes in Crimson Desert.

Opening them requires solving one of four recurring puzzle types: rotating image wheels, sliding picture tiles, pressing specific musical keys, or aligning vertical cylinders. If you just guess, you will be standing in front of these boxes for hours. Some of these locations are heavily guarded, so before you go breaking into a fortress, make sure you are properly geared by checking my unique armor locations guide. The Bluemont and Hillside Manors

These three strongboxes are all located within the City of Hernand or just outside its borders. They are relatively easy to access early in the game if you do not mind a little light trespassing.

HERNAND ESTATE STRONGBOXES

Demeniss Region Strongboxes

Demeniss is heavily guarded. Several of these manors and courts require you to either sneak past massive patrols or wipe out the local garrison, including a few boss-tier Reapers, before you can even approach the puzzles safely.

Sungrove Manor Strongbox Reward: Sungrove Manor Key	Found on the 2nd floor at the end of the corridor. Note: This puzzle scrambles randomly for every player. You simply have to manually rotate each individual square until the picture matches. There is no set input code.

The Sliding Tile Nightmares

These are arguably the most frustrating strongboxes in the game. You are forced to slide individual tiles around a grid to form a complete picture. If you mess up the sequence, you will likely have to back out and reset the puzzle. Follow these directional inputs exactly.

Mudridge Cabin Strongbox

This cabin is located in the Pororin Forest, southeast of Unicorn Cliff. It is surrounded by a toxic mud pit that constantly drains your HP, so climb the wooden posts immediately to reach the second floor.

Once you clear the bandits, approach the sliding tile puzzle and input these exact moves to secure the Flower Petal Earring:

Western Court Strongbox

Located northwest of Demeniss city. You will need to wipe out the enemies and the Half Moon Reaper boss in the courtyard. Find the ladder hidden under the curtain near the first-floor stairs and head into the basement.

Input these moves to claim Karanda's Necklace:

Reventine Monastery Strongbox

Located far west of Demeniss city. Find the round courtyard full of doors, take the eastern door, and push the library bookshelf on the right to reveal a secret room.

Input these moves to secure the Reventine Monastery Exclusive Document (which sells for a massive amount of silver):

The Musical and Combination Safes

The final few strongboxes require you to replicate musical tunes or bypass combination locks.

Hernand Castle Strongbox

You need to buy or steal a normal key to open the door to the top floor of Hernand Castle. This is a musical puzzle where you must press the keys in a specific order to replicate a tune.

Stellen Manor Strongbox 1

Located northeast of Drakesfall Gorge in Pailune. Climb through the window into the 2nd-floor dining room. This is another musical key puzzle.

Stellen Manor Strongbox 2

Climb up to the tower room of Stellen Manor. This is a cylinder alignment puzzle.

Scroll the wheels from left to right, then hit the switch:

Arboria Castle Strongbox

Travel to the Hills of No Return and head into the spider web-filled basement of Arboria Castle.

Lioncrest Manor Strongbox

Found on the 2nd floor of the eastern room of Lioncrest Manor. Similar to Sungrove Manor, this puzzle scrambles its starting formation randomly for every player. You simply have to rotate the individual squares until the picture forms. There is no set input sequence. Completing it rewards you with the Engraved Gold Earring.
