Resident Evil Requiem Warped Doors Guide: Brute Force Required

Capcom loves to psychologically torment players by putting essential survival supplies behind a thin sheet of wood that your character inexplicably refuses to break.

If you are currently wandering the halls of the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center as Grace Ashcroft, you have undoubtedly stumbled across a closet or a door that spits out a frustrating message. The text simply tells you that the door is warped and will not open. If you are like me, you probably spent the next forty minutes backtracking through infected hallways looking for a rusty crowbar or a maintenance key. I am going to save you a massive amount of time right now. The tool you are looking for does not exist in Grace's inventory.

Survival horror games are built on the foundation of backtracking and resource denial. The developers want you to feel helpless during the early hours of the game. If you are already stressing out over your lack of ammunition and healing items before you even figure out how these doors work, you should take a quick detour and read my Resident Evil Requiem beginners guide to get your priorities straight.

Opening these jammed cabinets requires patience, a perspective shift, and a very sharp axe.

The Illusion of a Puzzle

There is no complex puzzle associated with these specific obstacles. You are simply controlling the wrong character at the wrong time in the story.

Grace is fighting a desperate battle for survival. She is physically incapable of prying open a swollen wooden door frame. It does not matter how many chemicals you mix or how many tools you scavenge. She cannot do it. You need to accept that whatever is hiding inside that closet is going to stay there for the foreseeable future.

However, you still need to interact with every single warped door you find. When Grace attempts to open one and fails, the game permanently marks the exact location of that stuck cabinet on your map. This is a crucial mechanic. Unlike tracking down the hidden currency covered in my Resident Evil Requiem all antique coin locations guide, you do not have to memorize where these doors are. The map does the heavy lifting for you, provided you actually try the handle first.

Just click the prompt, let Grace fail, and move on. You have bigger problems to worry about, like figuring out my Resident Evil Requiem quartz puzzle box solutions to actually escape the main floor.

Enter Leon S. Kennedy

The solution to your warped door problem arrives several hours later when the narrative shifts and you finally take control of Leon.

Where Grace approaches Rhodes Hill as a victim trying to escape, Leon treats the facility like a tactical playground. He comes equipped with a heavy combat hatchet. If you have been struggling to figure out how to utilize his aggressive melee capabilities, my Resident Evil Requiem combat guide breaks down exactly how to parry and execute enemies using that exact blade.

That hatchet is not just for severing heads. It doubles as a pry bar. When you take control of Leon and begin exploring the Care Center, you can walk right up to any warped door or closet you previously marked as Grace. A button prompt will appear, and Leon will use his blade and sheer brute force to crack the swollen wood open.

This means you are going to have to do a massive sweep of the entire facility. Even if you felt like you completely cleared the Care Center while playing as Grace, you need to revisit those exact same hallways as Leon. Open your map, track down the marked icons, and chop those doors open.

The Loot Behind the Wood

You might be wondering if backtracking through a hospital crawling with mutated freaks is actually worth the effort just to open a few closets. The answer is a definitive yes.

The game hides incredibly valuable resources behind these specific doors to reward players who take the time to explore. You will find high caliber ammunition, essential healing herbs, and crucial crafting components. If you are constantly running out of space to hold these newly acquired items, check my Resident Evil Requiem crafting guide to learn how to condense your inventory efficiently.

More importantly, there are unique collectibles and codes locked behind these warped frames that you literally cannot find anywhere else.

The Records Room Collectible

When you are freely exploring the Care Center as Leon, make sure you head up to the second floor and enter the Records Room. There is a warped closet sitting near the office. Pry it open with your hatchet. Inside, you will find some much needed ammunition alongside one of the game's elusive bobbleheads. Finding this specific toy is mandatory for earning the "You Little Rascal!" achievement. If you are aiming for a flawless completion run, cross reference your progress with my Resident Evil Requiem trophy achievement guide.

The Attic Safe Code

Another incredibly important warped door is located in the Attic during Leon's segment. Right after you defeat the mutant boss up in the rafters, you will walk down a long corridor and step out onto a landing. Look to your right to spot a wardrobe with warped wooden doors.

Pry it open. Inside is a handwritten note containing the exact combination required to open the Basement Furnace safe. It is a brilliant piece of cross character design. Leon finds the code, but Grace has to actually use it later. Just like cracking the dial in the Bar and Lounge, missing this document leaves you completely locked out of high tier loot. If you want the rest of the combinations without the headache of searching for scraps of paper, I have them all documented in my Resident Evil Requiem all safe codes locations guide.

The warped doors are not a glitch and they are not a puzzle. They are just a harsh reminder that survival horror rewards patience. Mark the doors as Grace, break them open as Leon, and hoard every single bullet you find. You are going to need all of them by the time you reach the ARK laboratory. If you want a preview of exactly how punishing that final act is going to be, you can read my Resident Evil Requiem endings guide before you make your final choice.
